I'm currently looking to buy a new pair of boots and wondered who the good custom bootmakers were (Dallas, Ft. Worth, Waco, College Station area). I would like to get an aTm on them but I have noticed they're far and few to come by. Please let me know if you know a guy.

I have a pair of Maroon Ostrich with White tops with the maroon ATM on them. I got them from Luskeys in Fort Worth. They are totally handmade and custom. Very good looking and comfortable. What is your email and I will send you some pictures. I also got a matching belt.

I'm more of a fan of black full quill Ostrich with maroon calf tops, with my initials. 14 years later and they still look and fit great. Texas Traditions in Austin, though.

I did have a friend brand an ATM on his boot with one of those steak branders, if you decide to save some money.

There's a guy, very old Mexican gentelmen, in Oak Cliff, Dallas area, that makes custom boots that are awesome. It'll set you back at least $1k though. If interested let me know and i'll find his info. rayzab at yahoo dot com.

M.L.Leddy's does all kinds of custom boots. I have had several pair made for myself and clients. I have had the aTm logo inlaid on the tops. My son's boots have the Eagle scout emblem inlaid on his boot tops. Very detailed work. Excellent craftsmanship.

2nd Mercedes. In my opinion, Leddy's does excellent work, but it cost 2-3 times more than most.

These are my friends boots. Gator underbelly with his initials on the back.

Mine will be full quill ostrich with the Texas flag on the front and the Texas and A&M, like his, on the back.

Wadd, umm sort of similar. I'm just not a square toe person.

What I want to have made is a European Calfskin leather, medium-light brown lower, then a white in-lay or stitching of the state of Texas with an aTm in maroon inside of it. Darker brown leather upper, 2 pull straps, leather sole, double stitched, medium heel (medium between ropers and riding heel).

I use Gary loveless in Oklahoma City. He knows the best tanneries in Africa for the best hides. I have a pair of Maroon Elephant with kangaroo Tops and a white aTm on the front. I wear these nearly everyday to my office and they are over 10 years and still look great. I send them back to get resoled and they come back looking like new. His phone number is 405/631-9731. I met Gary at the Dallas Safari Club Show, he usually has a booth there. I have had boots made by Leddy's and others but his are the best. the way he fits your foot is really neat.

I have a pair of snake boots made of bullhide by Armando Rios in Rarmondville Texas. They are the only custom boots I have ever worn and they fit great, are comfortable to wear all day in the sandy soil of Willacy County.

Armando will make whatever you want and his prices are Valley prices not DFW or Houston.

I'm wearing a pair of boots right now that were made by Armando, TheGroupGuy.

I was a skeptic Ducks. I bought mine while hunting South Texas after doing quite well at the poker table. Everyone knows people that bought the Justin or Chippewa snake boots and then had the zipper put on so they could get the damn things on and off. I told Armando they would be worn over blue jeans and I wanted them easy on easy off. They are just that.

My sister works at Leddy's in San Angelo. They just did some boots for Terry Bradshaw and Richard Petty. They can fix you up.

I'm thinking I'm gonna get me some A&M boots made one day too. Saw a pair in a Houston boot store a year ago and the ideas been with me ever since.

Anyone know if Mercedes Boots in Ft worth is related to Rios Of Mercedes/Anderson Bean/Olathe boots? I know all 3 of those are tied together down in Mercedes. There might be more spin off names. I'd bet that Mercedes Boots is one in the same. All of them will do custom order boots.

Here is what the Ft. Worth company says:

Does anyone know what exotic skins are still available? I used to have some shark skin boots and kangaroo skin boots but grew out of both pairs. Could I have these made still?

Kangaroo and Shark hides are available.

Plus one for Armando Rios in Raymondville. He makes excellent boots...just not very fast (at least in my case). Ordered in early August, got my boots in January (he had promised them before Thanksgiving). They were worth waiting for...been wearing them a lot for the past 10 years.

Chief77- My FIL has funny foot and went to Leddy's in FW. They told him they could make him some custom boots but suggested he go see Gary in OKC to get the best fit. He's been really happy with the result.
