Any idea what someone might get for a Springfield 1903 stripped receiver these days??

I have one that appears to be in great condition and is just above the 800,000 safe/unsafe serial number range.

What the history on it? Has it been drilled and tapped?

There is a hatcher hole on one side and that is it. Not sure why it was added because it was double heat treated.

It was never drilled and tapped for a scope.

If the hole you speak of is on the right side of the front receiver ring it is a gas relief hole put there by the factory. Don't know what it's worth though.

I understand that much. I was thinking they were being cautious then instead of risking a brittle failure.

I will get pictures posted this weekend. It is a beautiful receiver. If I remember right it was make in 1919.

Hatcher Hole is on the left of the receiver as you look down at it from the top/rear.

Is it stripped? Does it have the mag cut-off or any extra parts?

Next question is to determine if its a drill, or former drill, reciever. Need pics of the bottom of the front receiver ring and the left side of the rear ring (the cut-off area). You are looking for ground off areas of weld...it will be shiny and discolored.

I am interested, depending on pics and condition.

As an FYI, complete receivers with a complete bolt are running $200 from several retailers.

Playboy, thanks for the heads up. I will get some pictures posted today after work. Where have you seen complete receivers for $200? I am curious myself.
