going to drive up to Rainier and hike it, then go back to Portland and hit up some microbrews and go see the Spruce Goose. Anything else I should do? Ill be there about a day and a half.
Portland to Rainier will take 3+ hrs. Not sure what else you'll have time for... Maybe go with St. Helens or Hood to free up more of your day. If you're looking for high country, be ready for snow - especially at Rainier. St. Helens will have the most dry trails. Weather's gonna be GREAT this weekend!
Oh, so you have a day and a half in Portland...then I would suggest lots of rest and hydration before Rainier.
Rainier is one of my favorite climbs! Which route are you taking to the summit? The Disappointment Cleaver? Weather should be amazing this weekend! Good Luck!
Oh, and I hope you've got a room at Paradise on the day you come down. I feel like arse when I do the whole getting up at midnight, climbing 3,000', then descending 9,000' thing on summit day... Gonna be a REAL long drive back to Portland...
