I've got the blind built for my first deer lease. Lease is out in East Texas, pretty heavily wooded and brushy. I figured on just using an old drab army green color, but figured I would consult the experts here. Is there any benefit to doing a camo pattern or is that pretty irrelevant?

I've always just gone with the olive drab and then spray in some designs with black spray paint. I don't think you can do it wrong.
I think txaggie02 hunts out of a hot pink blind and he seems to shoot plenty of deer

As long as it'll be set in place for quite awhile it won't really matter. They'll get used to it, even if it was white.

But a mix of lighter/darker browns & greens is a good way to go.

Color is pretty irrelevant, as the blind will be there year round (I assume?) and the deer will become accustomed to it.

Consider also painting the inside, so that when you are sitting in the blind it does not look much differently than when you are not. If you leave the interior as unfinished wood, your silhouette will stick out like a sore thumb. If you paint the interior a drab green and you wear drab green clothes in the blind, you will be much better off.

Just my .02.

It could be purple with yellow polkadots, but if it is there every day, the deer won't give a crap.

I need a giant SECede logo on the front of it then.

That would look pretty sweet.

Like others have said the exact color wont matter as they will become accustomed to it over time. I'd recommend stopping by lowes or HD and see what they have in the "oops" paint section. I got a 5 gallon bucket that someone originally paid $89 for.....cost me $25 and is ~olive greenish.

Grab a 5 gallon bucket of "oops" paint and have them add tint to make it green/brown. They'll do it for free, and you make out like a bandit!

This reminds me of "Leonard's Wet Dream" stand from a lease years ago. Someone splashed that on the side of it in bright colored paint. Made it easy to find in low light.

What RRAggie said. I've had luck finding drab green and dark brown exterior Oooops paint at HD and Lowe's for five bucks a gallon or less.

Be sure to paint a human face in each window.

It's lavender brotha! The big bucks are attracted to lavender.

I actually prefer to paint it an obnoxiously bright color. Not that I should happen, but it'll reduce the chances of accidentally getting shot by someone who didn't see your blind in the background.

Try to match the surrounding timber. Here is a pic of one of mine. I paint a base color OD Green or similar and spray paint trees and shrubs on it. They will get used to it in time, just get it out ASAP.

Is that camo or your artistic interpretation of Log's forearms?

Can hardly even see it!

I knew a guy how did auto body work on the side. He had a bunch of partial cans of automotive paint. He painted his stand in a camo pattern of metallic burgundy, curb yellow, bright blue and rally green. The deer didnt care.
