Wife is getting me a large BGE for Valentine's day (helluva present) - I know there have been a few posts on BGEs but didn't see anything related to my q.

I know Barbeques Galore, BBQ Outfitters, and Factory Builder Store sell them here in Austin, wanted to see if anyone had any experiences w/ any of these places. TIA.

I looked at Barbeque Galore. Saved $200 after shopping around the DFW area at Jacksons Home and Garden. Some Houston and Dallas stores offer 20% off. Do a little shopping and bartering.

Also, get the place setter, the shelves, and a large (16" pizza stone. Make them assemble the Egg at no cost.

Better to buy now and work it into your discount.

Oh and also, could Staff go have a chat w/ BGE's people about how crappy their message board is?

Morrison Supply stocks them. I have no idea what a fair price is, but their current promotion is:

BGE (size = medium)
big bag o' charcoal
electric fire starter
plate setter
bag of cherrywood chips
nest
$575

Check CraigsList. There were places in DFW that had them cheaper than list.

My in-laws gave me one for Christmas this year and I assembled it myself. I was actually glad as it made it easier to put on my deck by myself since I have steps.

If you do assemble it, search YouTube for videos on how to do it. Fred's Music and BBQ has a three part series that makes it a snap and gives some good tips. It's about 15 minutes of videos and took me 20 minutes to assemble because I was watching the Pats/Ravens game while doing it.

Go ahead and get the nest and side tables if you're not going to make a table.

Bought mine at Bar-B- Outfitters on 620. Did not have to ask them to assemble it. They just did it. In addition to the recs above you should also buy a "nest" or one of the table type nests. I got the basic nests for the large egg. They assembled that too without being asked.

If you can or at least when you can be sure and get a rib rack, chicken setters, and a turkey setter.

Congrats! You'll never regret it.

Got mine at BBQ Outfitters and had a great experience with them. Ask them if they have any demos availabe or demos coming up. I got a once-used Egg for $685 with a nest.

That said, if I had to do it over I think I would have gotten a Grill Dome or Primo because I would have preferred Black. I think Grill Domes are probably a little higher quality too.

Hmmm... Fido that throws me off a bit. Much BGE love on this board (and others), haven't done as much research on Grill Dome or Primo. Is Grill Dome a superior product?

Large Infinity Series Grill Dome is $629, and looks like you can't buy them locally?

BTW Fido - tried your enchilada recipe, was awesome.

Big green egg
-name recongition
-lots of add ons
-local dealer support

Primo
-round grill is 19" vs 18"
-black hardwear
-primo oval for more cooking area

Grill Dome
-thicker ceramic
-high quality stainless componants
-available in multiplencolore

They are all great choices. Just like buying a gun. Do your research then buy the one that fits you best. Don't get me wrong, I love my Egg, I just would have preferes Black (Primo) or Blue (grill dome)

no matter what you decide you will love it regardless

My FIL has a PrimoXL and bought me a BGE. He said it was because there are more accessories for the BGE. They bought me the nest and side trays as well. I didn't ask for it and he completely surprised me so I had no input on it.

My guess is that it simply says that you should just do your homework on what you want related to color, size, grill shape, and price as they're really all about the same from a performance standpoint.

I will say that there are a TON of accessories for the BGE.

This guy has a ton of unique stuff:

Then again, he could see me as an inferior SIL and bought me an inferior grill to his.
