a good friend/business partner is going buy some land in the SW Lee/Bastrop county area and will need to build one tank/pond. Does anyone know a name or company that does this?

Any one with a bull dozer but that's not always the best answer. I would suggest he start with a book titled, "Perfect Pond....Want One?" by Bob Lusk.

Call the NRCS office in Giddings and ask for "Grant" or the office in Bastrop and ask for "Michael". Either one should have a contractor's list. If it is ag land, they might qualify for EQIP and 70% (or better) cost share.

Check out the Pond Boss Forum. They've got lots of great info for building ponds.

My dad actually has recently purchased some land just outside of Giddings, and is putting in a tank.

He has talked to the Ag department up there and had things surveyed and has a person that is going to do the bulldozing. I can get the info from him this evening on who he is using/has talked to

1. Dig hole
2. Fill with water
3. Fill with fish
4. Profit??

A good up to date topographic map will prove to be valuable, to make sure you make the most of the available drainage area.

Don't forget to call DigTESS to make sure you're not going to dig up a pipeline or phone cable.

Hitting a high pressure petroleum line could ruin your whole day.

If you go the KWO2 route #4 could very easily be....pooped off a bunch of money.

What size pond?

You do need to call Grant and maybe you can get some help building it. I've lived in Giddings for 28yrs out of my 33yrs of life. There are two very capable guys that I use.

Call Justin Iselt 979-540-7006. He is great. He has built 3 ponds for me in the last two years and cleaned out part of our 90 ac lake. Very quick and cost effective.

On a side note, Grant is an Ag.
