I'm looking for a fish hatchery that carries native bass between Houston and Cuero. I'm heading to the ranch tomorrow and was planning on stopping by Henneke Fish Hatchery in Hallettsville, but he is currently out of native bass. Anybody know of any other places that wouldn't be too far out of the way? I'm looking for 100.

I just found some at Capote's Fish Farm in Seguin, TX, but I was hoping there was some place not that far out of the way.

There is a place on Hwy 6 between CS and Hempstead, but I can't think of the name. Sorry. I bought some triploid carp from him a few years ago.

Thanks for the info about Larry's. I've left them a message to call me back. If anybody knows anything about the hatchery on Hwy. 6 mentioned above, I'd like their contact information.

You could try Bait Barn here in BCS, its a little out of your way though. I know they always have bass in stock, just unsure of how many they might have right now. If you google it their number should pop up.

Thanks mneisch. I saw them on the internet, but it's closer to drive from Houston - Giddings - Cuero rather than going through Bryan.

What kind of permits, if any, are needed to stock fish like that?

What about trying to help jump start the growth of aquatic vegetation? Can you purchase aquatic plants native to Texas for your pond? Plants like coontail or others shown here: http://www.tapms.org/aquatic%20plants%20of%20texas2.pdf

Call Danbury. I've been out of the business for awhile, but natives used to not be very popular. Here's a complete list from TAA.
