I'm interested in getting a quality recurve for a good price. Would like it to be accurate and strong enough to kill deer, hogs, etc. I haven't shot recurves in a while and was wondering if anybody here shoots with one, has recent kills, or know where to get good deals.

Shot youth models and the weak one's in the TAMU archery class. Would just like something newer and a little more high tech.

Look for a lightly used Martin. I would suggest a Mamba, Hunter, Sabre, Super Diablo, Dreamcatcher, or X-200. You can usually find them on Ebay for about half retail price.

I own 7 Martin Bows, and they are the best off-the-shelf bow out there. They are almost custom quality. From the bottom up: Mamba, X-200, Del-Rey, Hunter, Hatfield, target model, and Savannah.

Killed this elk with the Mamba in 2007, winged one last year with it, and should have been elk hunting this year except for my broken toe.

Have been shooting traditional since 01. I shoot Bob lees and have nothing but good things to say about them. They are a little $ but he often times has already made bows for resonable prices. Rob and Bob are great people to deal with. I agree with Log that martin has the best cookie cutter bows.

I have a 55# Bob Lee recurve and like it a lot. Haven't killed anything but small game with it yet, though.

I have a Browning Wasp Recurve with Bear pin sights. (Also a reel for bow fishing). The bow is marked ST6484; 45X#; 56"; AMO. Will sell for $65.

Email me for pics.

Log is spot on with Martin. I have a 50# Mamba.

You might consider Black Widow as well. A couple of buddies shoot them and love them.

I'm getting ready to pick up a Hoyt Durado. Very nice shooting bow and being a take down will be nice.

The deciding factor was seeing a guy I know who owns several very expensive custom recurves and long bows shooting it and saying it shot as well as any others he owned and he was taking it to the woods this year.

Dude. A Black Widow is a gorgeous weapon, but have you ever priced one? I have.

Great info guys. In the ELK pic, how many lbs was the bow set at?

when buying a recurve do you get fitted for one like a compound? Draw length, etc?

Justing wondering how I would purchase one on Ebay without knowing measurements.
