So my brother went on a hunger strike until the Rangers won another game. When they beat the angels, he celebrated with a run to Kroger's. In his delirium, he picked up a 14 lb brisket.

I say delirium because he doesnt have a smoker. I dont have a smoker. So what to do...

Well he scavenged an ol weber grill from grandma's house, stripped the legs off it, and sat in on top of dad's old Mr. Smoker. He stayed up all night tending the fire (I'd have joined him, but was up taking care of my 11 month old who had a fever.

I just wanted to say Thanks bro, it was delicious (and right on time for the fourth).

The makeshift smoker.

No need to even mutilate the old weber

Needless to say it didnt hold a steady temp for very long, lots of tinkering with it.

12 hours of cooking and 2 hours of resting later

Great Fourth of July lunch. Thanks brother.

So was I - except she's 15 months. No fun. Running a little slow this morning and on my second cup of coffee. Great looking piece of meat!
