I've got a set of Cleveland Launchers that I've had for several years. They are still in excellent shape (since I dont get to golf much) and I always keep them clean, wipe them down good after a round, etc. I noticed the other day a bunch of surface rust accumlating pretty much all over each head. Not a ton, but enough to notice when I walked by. I took them all out yesterday and rubbed them down with some fine grade steel wool and took it all right off.

I've never had a set of irons rust before. Have you guys? Do I need to try to get these warranteed or something?

Is this golf? Yawn

Just wipe some oil on them if need be or get a real hobby.

A little surface rust might actually increase your spin.

I think Cleveland's do this. I have a Cleveland wedge that rusts pretty easy. I wipe it down after every round. It doesn't look pretty but I love that club.

Just wait until your swing starts rusting. That is when you know you really have a problem. Happens to me all the time!

Any gunmetal or "raw" irons or wedges of theirs were designed to rust.

What he said. Shouldn't be a problem.

The club Cleveland designs to rust is called the RTG (real tour grind) and those are wedges, not iron sets. And yes those are designed to rust to increase spin. Thats not what I'm talking about. Nevermind.

ummm...those are made of 17-4 stainless...

yeah, I agree, they shouldn't be rusting...

Usually the only non "raw" iron sets that rust are forged clubs after you wear off the chrome.

I was too lazy to check if they were even made in raw earlier.

the cleveland wedges that are designed to rust are the RTG model. they don't made irons that are designed to rust.

yes, some clubs come from the store with a sticker on them that warns the consumer that these clubs DO RUST! Imagine the high number of attempts to return for refund when this product first hit the shelves without that little warning.
