I went to Hurricane Harrys last night for the first time since late summer and boy has that place changed. While making the rounds, visiting and such I came to conclusion that finding a woman to dance with is like picking out what deer to shoot.

First thing you always look at is the rack.
Second you age it.

However sometimes you dont care about age and just want the rack

its like that when each semester begins or has been for the last 2 or 3 years. I always made a point to go there the first thursday of each semester. But now im graduated....damnit. I like your terminology.

Holy S%&^$, that place is still open. I just had a scary flashback of the old days. At least you didn't say Grahams Central Station, it would have brought back very old memories.

This has happened since they let women attend A&M...

bushman, do you remember Cell Block 5? Or do you go back that far. What about the Thirsty Turtle?

You might want to reconsider that aging question again! Those underage deer...err women, can cause problems!

The Thirsty turtle sounds familiar, but I don't believe I ever visited it. I pretty much stuck to the basics, except for the Ptarmigan for a free Flaming Dr Pepper on my birthday.

Heh. Harry's was just getting going when I was in school. It was Harry's, "the Hall", or D&D's.

One of the best times I had at Harry's was one night when the girl checking ID's stamped me as 21+, and I had just turned 20. I like to think she thought I was good looking or something (my own personal delusion), but for whatever reason, that night, I was buying like crazy. I almost screwed it up going in by trying to pay the under 21 cover, but my buddy clued me in before we hit the register.

I was in school when Harry's opened and it was great (D&D was still Graham's back then by the way).

They had $.25 drinks for about 2 hours early in the night (If I remember correctly they opened at 5 or 6, pretty early) so we'd be there right when they opened, sometimes a few minutes before.

Anyways, they would come around at 1:00am and pick up all the drinks but they'd stay open until people were tired of dancing. Occasionally that wasn't until 3 or 4 in the morning.

There were nights that we were there 8 or 9 hours straight!

Good times.

My first college hookup lasted a month from a night at HH.

I worked at Harrys for 3 years while at A&M. That was the easiest place in the world to pick up chicks. And young hotties were a dime a dozen in 2000-2003.

Anyone remember Zephyr's (which is where The Tap is now) or Graham's (became D&D), and there was a club in the shopping center caddi corner to Kroger's where I got my only MIP back in '89...it was a cheesy dance club in the far back corner...any old folks recall the name? For the record I know there are much older folks on here, like when A&M did not have women etc. so I'm speaking relative here on age.

As a student I rarely missed a Thurs nigh at Harry's. Even now at 30 yrs old I still make it in when I'm in town. Many a conquest was sealed on the Harry's dance floor for me.

That was the first place I went to when I got out of the Corps. I remember all of my friends wondering why I was hitting on some not so good looking women. They just didn't realize that those girls were 10's around Camp Pendleton. Ah, the good ole days.

well, I'm gonna show my age......

My SOLID hangout was the Thirsty Turtle...like almost everyday.
When we wanted to "attack some strange"..we drove to Huntsville and went to the Sound Machine.

When we had a date and needed to impress...went to the Hall of Fame (Shame).

But my wallet and my "card" belonged to my "homies" at the Turtle! here, here!

Mouth- if you're co'98 then Harry's was big-time well before you got there.

I grew up in Bryan and Harry's was big when I was a junior & senior in HS. One of the great things about going to HS in Bryan back when TABC didn't care was hooking up with college chicks when I was still in HS. Of course I was 6'2" 220 and had to shave every other day when I was 15.

Then, when I transferred home to A&M from Rice I worked at:
JD Wells
Barracuda Bar
The Tap
Harry's
Woody's
Ptar
Shadow Canyon/Hole in the Wall

But I can still remember places like Legends, The Parthenon, Baja Beach Club, Sneakers, Big Dogs, Mercury Bar, Pi-R-Squared, Extreme, Ozone, and a few others. A bunch of these went out of business or changed themes when I was in HS (91/92-94/95).

And having seen a large sampling of chicks at A&M between, say 1992 and December 2008...

...I can definitely say that the chicks just continually get hotter, s-l-u-ttier, and wear less clothes.

God bless 'em for it too!

Finn, if you worked at the Ptar, I probably know you. Jason was our boy over there, and since we could walk home to our House (you know the one) we could really throw 'em down. Wonder if I can still walk to the front of the line and get a goblet and my pitcher like I could back then? LOL

Baja Beach Club was where I got my only MIP...Fall '89...drinking Vodka and Koolaid...damn cops busted us drinking IN our cars in the parking lot.

Maybe, I only worked there in the summer of '99 though. And last time I went to the Ptar (after the '06 OU game) the place was totally dead. I've heard that it pretty well reverted back to a total dive for the townies.

What about Carney's & Blarney Stone? Are those still running? I used to love those places. Especially Carney's when they had $1.75 pints on Mondays in the summer and you got to keep the glass.

Carneys is still around and its actually pretty good some nights when its not full of frat queers, the blarney stone was knocked down.

Just because you got blackballed and some frat guy nailed your girlfriend is no need to get snippy.

Yes, I was in a fraternity.

Of all the stuff I've ever read on this site, the above quote is one of, if not the wisest of them all. You have great perspective my man.
