Logging so many miles across this great state has given me - an admitted DQ addict - the chance to eat at tons of small town DQ's. I'm sure there are many more of you that do the same while traveling across Texas. After putting over 1500 miles on my truck between Christmas and New Years and eating at a bunch of different DQ's, I thought it would be fun to complie a list of your bset and worst DQ's.

Here are mine:

Best DQ: Brady TX
Why: Whether ordering inside and taking it to go, or trucking it in the drive-thru, the Brady DQ always wraps your burger AND puts it inside one of those square to-go boxes. This makes it super nice for eating on the road and dumping your fries in after downing the burger. Never seen any other DQ do this. They never mess up my order, and always super nice.

Worst DQ: Gatesville TX
Why: The cow working the counter did the 'flip-your-blizzard' before handing it to me... and the damn thing fell out onto the ground. This happend on 2 different trips. Seriously?!? If the ice cream is runny - Don't flip it!

Best: Eagle Lake or Goldthwaite

Worst: Is there such a thing?

Best food DQ: Schulenburg, TX
Worst service DQ: Schulenburg, TX

Best: Junction, because it means we're headed to the ranch.

Smokiest DQ: Nocona.

DQ - The Texas stop sign.

Obviously you guys have never been to the DQ in George West. There is nothing like a Dude combo with cheese and jalapenos to get a weekend of hunting started off right.

George West does have an awesome Dairy Queen.

Munday has a pretty good one too.

I like me some DQ. But I can't figure out why I can be the only one in there and it still takes them 20 minutes to get my food out.

Goldthwaite and Hondo are an even tie for me. Hondo because it's my hometown and the owner/manger there runs a tight ship. It's a good, clean restaurant. He also has added things to the menu and they serve breakfast tacos for breakfast and some additional mexican food for lunch.

Goldthwaite because it's consistent and it's close to the ranch.

Worst: Castroville...just gives me the creeps thinking about it. Sorry Allen76!

Best - White Oak

The DQ in Tivoli is pretty solid. I always stop there for a Hungerbuster w/ cheese, bacon, and jalapenos when I'm headed back & forth between Houston & Rockport.

The DQ in DeLeon is pretty good too.

They closed the DQ in Columbus, the Dairy Cone put them out of business I heard......

No steak fingers or taco salad at a DQ in Kansas.

My inlaws live in rural Glidden and I was floored to find out they shut down the DQ in Columbus. They might as well shut down the damn town.

I drove that place three times last week and shed a tear every time. I always tried to score a blizzard when I went there.

Grew up eating the DQ in Dickinson and it was the tits.

Worst was Gatesville for me too.

The DQ in DeLeon scares me. Last year I they had a cashier named Hurricane with a missing tooth and a black eye. I had nightmares about her for a week. They do have good food, though. I have yet to eat in one that I didn't like.

dang i love dairy queen. its crazy how they seem to be really good or really bad. i've been to some that you could take your grandma to, and others that i feel like i should be packing heat. To me the thing that usually varies in quality is the blizzard...some are not mixed well at all while others are just right.

2nd worst for me was Somerville. Was in there about 2 years ago and it was like a single mom convention and I was the guest speaker. I guess these women were blind or something because I had my wedding band on and I know I am one ugly SOB. My chicken tenders and fries with an Oreo Blizzard have never tasted the same thereafter.

Best: Lockhart
Worst: Calvert

I was in Toronto Canada one time and saw a fricken DQ....so I stopped and ate there. I don't know what kind of crap they fry french fries up there, but they weren't worth a damn.

Vero, they looked past the wedding band and all they saw was fresh meat.

boynamedsue, if I'm not mistaken, the texas DQ's broke off from the main company years ago.

which is why if you go to a DQ outside of tx and order food, when you get it your question will be "What is this crap?"

And I'll have to go nostalgic on my favorite: the DQ on loop 281 and 80 in longview. Used to go there with my bro and parents as a kid. Got the food to go and went home to watch the Donny and Marie show ... Good times. I still go to that one when visiting the folks.

And even a bad DQ is still pretty good.

There's one in Empire, CO (on the way to Winter Park).

There's a Dairy King on U.S. 59 somewhere in the vicinity of El Campo.

OK ... how bout Dairy Creme???

Speaking of Dairy Creme, I had an uncle get into a fistfight with Elvis at the Dairy Creme in Mt Pleasant. Thank ya, thank ya very much.

Another vote for the DQ in Goldthwaite. Love those wooden pictures near the drive thru where you can stick your face in the hole for a picture.

The best one I have eaten at was at the Bahrain Airport (was surprised when I saw it)..May have something to do with previous 24 hrs of airplane food..
