Gulp Earthworms...

There's a pond I fish that has 1-3 lb tilapia, and I've been trying hard to find something they will actually bite. So far I'd had the best luck on bright colored flies when the tilapia were on beds (they spawn all summer off and on).

Well, now I catch the tilapia almost like bluegill on the worms. Too bad there's not more of them and I have to fight off bluegill to get at the tilapia.

Bluegills are yummy too.

Get a bow. Tilapia are great fun to bowfish.

can't hurt the tilapia in this pond...or else it would be awesome for bowfishing...

bluegills are a PITA to clean and pick out bones when you go to eat them...

I could eat the tails and fins like tater chips though...

Have you tried fishing for them with some sort of vegetation as bait? I think I read somewhere that Tilapia are ominvorous, but prefer plants as food.

I've wanted to try corn...but the bluegills would get annoying.

I've tried the trout nuggets (powerbait), and it works, but is a little pricey to feed to the bluegill.

I need to find a place here in Houston where I can consistently fish for tilapia.

They fight hard, will take a fly, and taste delicious.

Haven't you seen the dirty jobs where they use tilapia to clean the poo out of the hybrid bass water?! Tilapia rank right up there with carp in my book.

tilapia meat is very much like crappie though.

also, the tilapia in this pond are to try to control vegetation, but it doesn't work.

I just like them because they are fun to catch.

Lake Houston has TONS of them in places.
