With the rising hops prices and difficulty in getting hops- I have been kicking around an idea of growing my own for my homebrew experiments... I have read a bit on hops growing, and know of a guy in Bee Cave that has been successful in growing them, but I am hesitant, as I am doubtful that they would grow down here in Kemah. Any one have any experience with growing hops in South Texas (read- gulfcoast, humid and hot Texas) ???

Thanks.

BTW- if anyone else is interested in reading about growing hops or purchasing all things needed when growing hops- I have found www.freshops.com to be a nice source.

A friend of mine is a member of a yahoo hop growers group. I think there are several members from Texas in it. He is growing some first year rhizomes and they are looking pretty good. He is in Palestine. I think this is a link to the growers group, maybe they can give advice.
