Nightcrawlers are great for action, but usually nothing big. My dad and I pulled in about 13 in less than an hour using nightcrawlers but the biggest one was 15 inches and only 3 were keeping size.

I like using a combo though. put out the nightcrawlers for consistent action, then set up the chicken liver/cut bait/whatever else for the big one.

I think they averaged ten or eleven pounds. My dad and oldest brother caught the six on the shredder. We (wife, boy and me) quit after four. It's a big job to clean those and I always get stuck with the job.
