....and all this time I have been buying into all this purported gun knowledge on this board.....a lot of it must be BS.

They have barrels of those things in the Ft Worth store....any time you are in there you can hear the "kids' playing with them...especially up near the front.

Anyone like Sportsmans? I have been in there one time but I did not do much comparison.

I always called those "cork guns". Like I said, no Cabelas around Houston to get that lovely experience from.

I like Sportsmans Warehouse the best out of all the outdoors stores. There was one like 10 minutes from me in my hometown. They always had a real good selection of everything, and the people behind the gun counter actually knew about guns. They would also have random sales, so I went in there often to see what had been marked down.

There is a distinct difference between a cork and a pop gun. When you shoot the one that is being discussed it goes "POP!"

I can see my gramps saying this: "The next pop I hear is gonna be that gun hitting your backside, gohdoughty!"

I've actually never heard those guns when I've been in the Buda Cabela's. I guess I've been real lucky.

"I think that Sportsman's Warehouse is better than them all except for nothing ever went on sale and their prices were higher. (also they don't sell used guns that I ever saw)

Other than that I like the layout, selection, and people better. Too bad the one in Lewisville closed down."

I SOOO know what you are saying. I was so pissed at Sportsmans for bailing out on texas. They are the best store hands down. Gun prices are exceptional. Many of their staff were serious hunters and outdoor folks, so you could find excellent help (unlike many at the big box stores).

When the lewisville store was going out, I picked up so much great gear at 50% or more off.

Can't complain about my two Knives Of Alaska for 30 bucks or so each.... Best skinners I've ever owned. I also got a Nikon buckmaster 3-9x40 for 160 or so..

for those that don't know here are the details:

The Lewisville, Texas store officially closed on January 31, 2008. This was a sad occasion but our associates remained positive to the end. Scott Johns, the former Lewisville Store Manager now manages our San Antonio, Legacy store, and several other employees have also transferred to other locations.

On behalf of everyone at Sportsman's Warehouse, we would like to thank you for your patronage. Hopefully, we will be able to identify a more suitable location in the Dallas metroplex sometime in the future. In the interim, we wish to once again express our sincere gratitude for your support.

Cordially,

STU
Stuart B. Utgaard
Chairman & CEO
Sportsman's Warehouse
