Have a family place in Fayette county. Haven't heard anything good or bad about the lake in town. I think that in itself is not positive. Also, haven't seen many boats on the square like usual in the spring.

I love it when people think Fayette is a terrible place to fish... more room for me and my buddies on the water.

This is THE TIME of the year on Fayette Lake. Because its main function is a coolent lake for the power plant, the water is warm year around. With the air temps down, the water temp is pefect for some aggressive bass fishing. One side of the lake even starts the spawn early because of the crazy water temps.

The biggest thing on Fayette is to find the grass. If you find it, you find the fish. Without going into too much detail - the best thing you can do is to buy one of those maps from Academy that shows hot-spots. Use that as a prelim guide to find grass beds.

Our Number One bait is Carolina Rigged trick worms. We have had 50-60 fish days out there. And right now is THE time to go. If you buy one of those maps, check out the following places: Buzzards Point, Hog's Point, Hog's Cove and Johnny's Cove. Best of luck!

lostboy: Thanks for that info, however i dont have a boat so i am going to mainly be sitting on the docks. I agree that it is a good time to fish and long for the day when i can afford a boat to get out there. My cousin owns a cabin out in La Grange and we usually make a pretty good weekend out of the trip. Not to far from College Station either as I make trips usually. Hopefully they have muddogs for sale as the docks dont offer to much alternatives to catching fish.

What you say about the docks is true. I wish LCRA would take the time to make the docks a better place for fishing. Do you have the chance to rent/borrow a canoe? There is some great fishing that can be accessed with a paddle.
