The wife got her first coyote and I'm looking at a full body mount for her. How much should I be looking at to get something like this? The only place I've looked is Allen Palermo Taxidermy and he wants $950 for a full body plus $800 more for a free-standing pedestal mount. That seems ridiculous to me.

I would think more like $300-400 max.

That does seem really high. The guy who did my full body bobcat charges something like $600 for full body coyotes.

WOW. Doesn't surprise me, I went there to get a quote for a full body fox mount (slightly smaller than a coyote) they wanted to do it for $850 or around that plus a 10-12 month waiting period. So I looked around and finally got with a buddy and it turned out his whole family uses the same guy and I saw some mounts he did that were pretty good. Anyways, I got the full body mount for $360 after a 4 month wait and it is AWESOME. So look around I think you're getting the shaft.

I love that mount you've got pictured. Really good looking for a coyote mount. I've seen some absolutely terrible ones.

The upper-level taxidermist like Allen Palermo and Bobby Merchant will cost you $1000+. Post your photos of $400 full-body coyote mounts. Like everything else, you typically get what you pay for with taxidermists.

$800 sounds about right for a full body mount if you want it done right. That means finding a taxidermist who will take the time to properly shape the foam mount to fit the skin of your coyote, how to shape the lips and make the eyes of the coyote not look like he snorted a line of coke before he went out and got shot. In the taxidermy shop where I used to work, that price was in our range, but they did an exceptional job on full body mounts, bases included.

I have some mounts done by Mesquite Creek Taxidermy in S.A. He does some really great work but he is pretty pricey and there is a waiting period. But really great work.

I'd say if he has a 10-12 month waiting period that he's probably not charging too much because there are enough people willing to pay for it that he's got a 10-12 month waiting period.

And Palermo isn't cheap on anything, but I seriously doubt you'll EVER see anything he did and go, "Wow. That looks awkward."

The guy doing my whitetail buck from this year advertises full-body life-size coyote $595, half life-size $450 (not sure what that means).

He's in Bulverde (just north of San Antonio) and seems to do pretty good work.

Check out the $595 full-body coyote on the top row of the gallery. Different kind of 'yote...

I had a very large display mount done with 2 coyotes (1 laying on a rock and the other behind her howling). It was $1300-1400 with the 2 mounts and the display rock/mount. The guy did a wonderful job, but it took about 8-9 months for them to be ready.

You guys are paying out the ass for yote mounts.

Maybe we just have so many here...
