I guarantee you use something to your advantage when you hunt. A food plot(natural or man made), pre-existing trail to and from a water, bedding ground, etc.

My point is, we all try to maximize our time and success by using methods that work for our specific area.

For what it is worth, I don't hunt out of stands or over feeders.(i'm a mule deer hunter like sunchase) But I promise you that some years it is a lot easier to hunt a grain field or a water hole than it is a feeder.

In the end, someone who is bitter about someone else's hunting method is either jealous or a hypocrite.

I have grown up hunting South Texas from hunting Senderos without corn, to hunting senderos with corn to protein feeding the herd. NEVER has a trophy came to feeder during dayligh. I repeat. Never. A deer up to about 4.5 years old will, but a 5.5 and older buck will almost never come. I have had an 8.5 year old 6 pt. come to feed as all he did was eat till the protein was empty and then leave. But a mature buck in his prime is very leary of feeders and senderos during th e day. All of our trophies have been taken off the beaten path so to speak. I have friends who think that they are Rambo with a bow and have never been closer to a Trophy than I have with a rifle. We both have success with our chosen methods,and we both come out happy.

I can not believe that any hunter would bemoan the taking of management/cull deer with corn or without. It is vital to the population that these deer be taken if you are trying to manage for trophy deer and overall herd health. We ahve seen dramatic increases in body and mass, dramatic increases in fawn health and the population overall. On our place we do not use breeder bucks nor breeder pens and routinely take deer well over the 160 class. It is all about habitat and management.

Good luck with your hunting and keep up the good work on the bow end and I'll tyr to keep up the good work on the rifle end.

You know...it's funny. My favorite way to hunt deer is stalking with a bow or rifle. I love the pre-rut time, ect.
But, we have tower blinds, bow blinds, numerous feeders (mainly to keep does around), and a protein station.

My point is...if a client is paying money to hunt and kill....then I feel obligated to increase the odds to make that happen. I love it when a plan comes together...when you outsmart the brain of a mature buck...when a hunter is satisfied....when a client says that he had the best hunt ever...ect.

You see, I have to be prepared for all kinds of hunters.

Sucess is everything....I wish Fran had the same motives (LOL)!

I hunt south as well as Brazos and my south Texas lease is in the thick of the best country there is. It is hard as hell hunting and nothing like you think. I've seen some damn good deer but they don't grow on trees and they sure as hell aren't chained to any waiting to get shot.

I miss HUNTING, as I have not been on a good lease since '90. However, I am not that mad at them.

This kind of high and mighty, bring us your rich, has ruined hunting for the average Joe wanting to teach his kids about the sport.

If one was going to enter into this type of game management, then how about trying to get the most out of the youth only season to get the bucks off prior to any chance of them impregnating a doe. At a lesser fee. Or even a "draw" or lottery deal for persons without the wherewithall to "pay out" for just semi trophies?

I guess your logic is ok.

But, some people don't have the time, means, ect..to pay for a lease where you could hunt like you are talking about.
The "old fashioned" way to hunt is perfectly fine. 80% of our land is leased that way.

But this pasture is one where we have invested 5 years of highly intensified deer management, and we are just looking for a way to return some funds on that investment.
Nothing wrong or unethical about that. These deer are wild, smart and tough to hunt...peroid.

I hunt from a stand overlooking a feeder, and I shoot deer when they come eat, and there's nothing wrong with that and I'll never be ashamed of it. Sometimes the deer I shoot are nowhere near the feeder. Sometimes, I've rattled and a buck came running towards me and I shot him. Either way, the meat tastes the same, it's still thrilling, and it's all legal. That's the main issue here.

"Guaranteed" hunts usually mean that you don't pay the trophy fee if you can't get on a trophy deer - not a guarantee that you will have a shot at a trophy.

My thought on this is easy enough to understand.
If you only hunt with a bow and track your animal, good for you! I am happy you've found a way to hunt that you enjoy. If you hunt from a blind near a feeder, good for you you've found a way to hunt that you enjoy. I don't see why people think they need to tell others what is and what is not hunting. People who only hunt with bows still have an advantage over an animal. If you want to really get down to it and really impress me hunt with a spear, while wearing the skin of an animal you killed earlier. Now that is someone I would listen too.

This thread has turned into a mockery.

I was just advertising some deer hunts on my family's ranch...plain and simple.

I love to see bow hunters deride those hunting over a feeder or corn while they'll go out and hunt before everyone else over water as if that is different from hunting over a food source.

First, you should stop posting here, especially since you have an Ag tag. You are devaluing my degree.

Also, as an outfitter myself I can guarantee clients they will see some nice bucks over the course of their hunt over several days. What they do from there is up to them. I am pretty sure that is what Bull meant.
