Did anyone else happen to watch Guns and Ammo TV last night and see the Benelli M4 torture test clip? I thought it was pretty interesting. They loaded a 20 gauge shell into the barrel of a 12 gauge M4. The shell dropped into the forcing cone and then they followed it with a 12 gauge shell and fired the gun. They did this twice (once with a 12 gauge slug and once with buck shot) and the gun cycled both times and did not come apart like I expected. I looked for a video clip but couldn't find one.

Has anyone ever had this happen or seen this happen in "real life?" The show said at one point it was a pretty "common" problem.

Yeah I saw it, the guys doing the testing even thought it would destroy the gun. They also said in the past that a lot of people lost hands because of it.

I don't remember the specific calibers involved, but when I took my CHL refresher course a couple of years ago, the guy shooting next to me had bought and loaded the wrong rounds for his gun. He fired one and the gun jammed, then the instructor told him he had the wrong rounds. We all just looked at each other as we were all in the "kill zone."

Lucky, I guess.

Growing up I had one of those spring operated trap throwers and shot many clays at a friends house using a 20 gauge and 12 gauge shotgun. I always kept the ammo seperate but I never realized that a 20 gauge shell could fall down into the barrel of a 12 gauge where you couldn't see it AND allow you to load and fire a 12 gauge shell.

91, that's a pretty scary story.

I thought it was a pretty good testiment to the M4 which is the (or one of the) combat shotguns that the military uses.
