Just finished Dungeon Crawler Carl book 8. I also read LotR this year. I am on the waitlist for Red Rising and Mistborn at my local library. Any other book recommendations from the nerds?
if you were amazed at how main characters died in Game of Thrones, Jordan has some interesting ways of making main characters meet their end as well.Ozzy Osbourne said:

Is Red Rising worth a read? I have heard mixed reviews, but seems very popular.

One of my favorite things I've ever read but take a break after 1-3 if you want a simple happy ending. 4-7 jump ahead 10ish years, have multiple viewpoints that you may not enjoy as much, is much much darker, and also 7 isn't out yet. I didn't love 4 and 5 due to darkness but 6 felt like a really strong Darrow is back book.
I can't imagine someone not being entertained by the books tbh.

Man that one is interesting.
I read 1-3 when that was it, it was done... then years later (like 1 year ago) I saw someone reading book 5 and I thought WTF, there is no book 5. So I found out he wrote more and read 4, 5, 6. Man.... so very different and dark.
A co-worker who likes the same type of books refuses to read the new ones, he considered books 1-3 a complete series and done, no need to write anymore.
I predict book 7 is going to be dark, like genocide level dark.
I remembered one more series.

Lots of great recommendations in the thread already. But I'd want to know what kind of sci-fi and fantasy intrigues you next. DCC is farce, so maybe you're looking for more serious fare for a change? LotR is classic fantasy of course. Are you wanting the same feel but lighter in tone? David Eddings' Belgariad series is a good fit there. Are you interested in unique magic systems? Mistborn is perfect for that. If you liked Harry Potter's incantation based magic and want more of that with a side of Catholicism, check out the Camber of Culdi series. How do you feel about gods and demons? Bujold's Chalion and Penric series are fantastic. Do you like "soft" or "hard" sci-fi? Stories with BDO (Big Dumb Objects, like Rendezvous With Rama or Ringworld) or economic political conflict (The Dispossessed)? Maybe some theological sci-fi (Stranger in a Strange Land, A Case of Conscience)?BamaAg25 said:
