Hoping for some help here.

Recently have started traveling more for work. Was hoping to use the remote play feature on the Xbox to play some games in the evening.

I've successfully logged on to the remote play service on a laptop and on my phone, but for the life of me I could not get my controller to pair with either device. I use it wirelessly at home with no issues - but it would not connect with any other device.

Any suggestions? I don't want to drip a ton of money on a full gaming device - not sure I'll use it enough. Not sure if there is a unique setup for pairing to like a phone or iPad or something like that.

Don't know if it's the same for Xbox but when I use remote play on PS on my laptop I have to use it plugged in, not over Bluetooth.

There is a specific method to hold the pairing button to engage Bluetooth on Xbox controllers (you can look up the exact details).

The connection to an xbox uses a proprietary connection so it's pretty seamless and easy. I think a simple button press will have the controller blinking and it looks like it's in pairing mode, but that's only for an Xbox connection. You'll need to long press or do something different to engage the Bluetooth pairing.

Appreciate y'all's help. I did order that usb plug in to give it a try.

For my iPhone pairing - I guess my controller is just old. I tried out a buddy's and it connected right away to my phone.

Played some assassins creed this week - worked great.
