My brain is stuck on this one and simple amazon searching has been inconclusive because I don't think I'm giving it the right info.

Simply put, I've DisplayPort (and dvi and vga, lol) outputs on monitors my employer sent me. They also sent me DisplayPort cables. I do not have DisplayPort ports on the USB hub they sent me, I have HDMI.

Best practices/best use, what's the correct option to get this to work? I suppose at the heart of it all I am confused if I need unidirectional adapters/cables or not. Is it as simple as this?

The adaptors at the link are the opposite of what you need. You need something that is DP female to HDMI male. Or buy cables that are DB on one end and HDMI on the other.

Thanks, I honestly wasn't sure if there was a difference and google searching provided zero answers but plenty of shopping options.

Most cables and adapters are DP (source) to HDMI (display) and do not work the other way around. You have to have specific active HDMI to DP cables or adapters to make it work.

Or you can buy HDMI to DVI cables/adapters that will work fine and probably be cheaper

That's what I would do in this case.

Make sure to update the display link drivers too. I have 3 monitors at home and the office and my docking stations have Display Ports. I used to have issues all the time with one monitor randomly blacking out. Keeping the drivers updated seems to help, along with swapping out with new cables once a year or so. Maybe I just have the dumbs or bad luck.
