Why do most radar maps on weather apps suck so bad? Everyone of them are super l**** and missing spots with past simulations. Then with the future forecast, the image gets all blurry. You would think by now, we would have figured out how to compress transmit and stream radar imagery.

Best weather app by far:

Download RadarScope. Pulls data directly from NWS radar sites. You can even see all the other products weathermen use such as wind velocity and many other things. By far the best radar app out there.

For radar, I use RadarScope with a Pro Tier Two plan. I use multiple products to determine where or if hail has fallen somewhere so I can get data before the hail map companies have compiled it and sent it to roofing companies. Then I cross reference with photos and reports from Facebook with cross streets. I can get I for hours beforehand this way and usually get to a place before it even stops raining. lol.

For forecasts, I use EverythingWeather. It is also subscription based and is built and developed by NWS employees. You'll notice much of the data it displays is nicer and cleaner versions of what is output by the NWS. This is the ONLY forecast I trust. I might use Wunderground but it's pretty rare.

As a roofer, I can tell you that putting stock in ANY "future cast" for a radar is foolish.

The image is from AnythingWeather. You can see the NWS outlooks and crucial information is right there in front. These are crucial for me for severe weather. Convective outlooks, etc are priceless for me.

Thanks for the recs. Always looking for a good weather app. EverythingWeather looks pretty good and RadarScope looks to be the #1 weather app in the Apple Store.

I've been using Ventusky which for radar isn't great because it's not totally fluid with animations. It's skips by the hour which I don't like. It's fantastic for hurricane tracking though which I no longer need so been looking for a new app.

Sidebar: I need to track wildfires and I found a cool non-profit app called Watch Duty that is slick.

I used PYKL3 until it was discontinued and now use wX. Aggies built PYKL3 and I cant tell much difference with wX and it can do anything I could ever need from it.

MyRadar. As described. It's just the radar. I use it over any weather app if I just want to see radar

Hey, can you reach out to me via email or phone? Wanted to ask you about a request you made in another thread but didn't want to derail it. Contact in profile! Thanks!

Not just a weather app, but I bought a tempest weather station for my house. It obviously has an app, but also links with my irrigation system (Rachio).

Really like it so far.

Another here for MyRadar

Best dedicated radar app out there and doesn't require a subscription.

I use my radar and radar now. I wish there was something that had less delay, maybe every minute. Would be nice to see the live radar like on network TV news that's actively scanning.

I'm going to try out some of the recommendations here, but I've used Weather Underground for a LONG time. I'm an Android guy and appreciated their widget. I'll say since it was bought out by IBM and now The Weather Company, there were less "clutter ads", but still not enough to make me to commit to any other one I've tried.
