How long do you want to ignore this user?

I'm trying to save a portion of an excel document as a PDF. I do it dozens of times a day by highlighting the cells, then File-Save as Adobe PDF, select "selction" and "fit to paper width" then Convert to PDF. It's saving every cell as its own page. I've tried changing print area and it does the same thing. When I go into View then page layout it says "Margins do not fit page size" and won't let me change them. HELP!

Highlight what you want to save, then go to Page Layout, and Print Area > Set Print Area. Also under Page Layout, make sure you set the Width to 1 Page.

From there, just save as a PDF. It will only save the area you selected as the "Set Print Area"

I've already done that. That's what I meant in my OP by changing the print area. It's never done this before. It won't allow me to change it to a single page like I've always done.

It sounds like your print settings are causing the issue. Let's walk through a fix:
Step 1: Clear Print Area
  • Go to the Excel worksheet.
  • Select Page Layout > Print Area > Clear Print Area.

Step 2: Adjust Page Layout Settings
  • Go to View > Page Layout.
  • If you see the "Margins do not fit page size" error, go to Page Layout > Margins and select Narrow or Custom Margins to manually adjust them.

Step 3: Adjust Page Size and Scaling
  • Go to Page Layout > Size and make sure it's set to Letter (8.5" x 11") or your desired page size.
  • Under Scale to Fit, set:
    • Width to 1 page and Height to Automatic (or both to 1 page if needed).

Step 4: Set Print Area and Print Settings
  • Highlight the cells you want to save as PDF.
  • Go to Page Layout > Print Area > Set Print Area.
  • Then, go to File > Print and make sure the settings are:
    • Print Selection is chosen.
    • Fit Sheet on One Page (or Fit All Columns on One Page).

Step 5: Save as PDF Again
  • Now, go to File > Save As > Adobe PDF.
  • Choose Selection and make sure Fit to paper width is selected.
