Bought this in late 2021 and the left side of the screen appears to have had it's LED bulbs burn out, so now it's pretty much a dark screen on the left 40% of the TV. Anyone else had similar experiences with recent Samsungs? I've owned two previous LCD's that last like 8 years. This one barely made it 3. Was thinking about trying to replace the bulbs myself or even call in a repair person, but likely not worth the cost with how cheap TV's are these days. Anyone else had similar experiences with recent Samsungs?

Tvs are poor quality since covid. I think we've been through 4 since 2020 across Sony, LG, and Samsung. But I've got one or two that are more than 10 years old.

Since my first HDTV in like 2003, I've had much better luck with budget brands (TCL, Vizio) than I have with the more premiere brands like Panasonic (back in the day) and Samsung. I've had two high end Samsungs not last 5 years, similar failures as the OP.

+1 for TCL!

These tired eyes can't tell the difference between a budget and premium brand. Plus, if my 2yo throws a toy at it and I have to replace, I'm out <$500. Can't beat that.

I have an 85" from July 22 that's been perfect, but I also have a 65" from 2014 that still gets everyday use and a 52" from 2009 that still might have the best picture of any of them.

SMH. Did a Reddit deep dive and it looks like it was unique to this set of models around this year where the LED bulbs/strips bomb within just a few years.

The one GOOD thing about Samsung TV's are that they are the one type of TV you can take the back cover off, and simply replace a controller board or two.

Spend 10 mins of research and see if it's simply the video board for that model, and go here and get the part... spend a few mins snapping the new one in and you have a new TV again.

I've done this for TONS of Samsung TV's as my buddy got hit by a lightening bolt in Arlington Heights in College Station and blew 12 TV's all in the same day.... insurance told him to throw them away so he gave them to me and I replaced one board in each TV and got them all back working... free tv's (outside the cheap parts and labor).

The best was this TV 65" Samsung with real glass from 2006 he paid $10,000 for, and it by far is the best TV picture I've ever seen on any TV. A local TV repair shop told me that TV was gold because of the real glass and how they don't make them like that anymore because they're impossible to ship (via that glass) and the fact it literally weights 200 pounds despite being thin and curved. But ******* it has a better-than-plasma quality picture. Cost me $600 to fix it to new.

I bought the 60" Samsung Crystal and it went out after a month. Just wouldn't turn on one day. Fortunately I had an extended return period because I bought it after Thanksgiving.

Samsung has turned into overpriced garbage in the last 5 years or so. If you're getting a nice TV and want to go with a name brand, go with LG. Otherwise, you're better off with a budget brand like TCL.

Samsung has an extremely high failure rate right now. Avoid at all costs until they get their **** together.

You may be right (I don't know) about Samsung, but with an LG TV, once something on it dies, you throw it out. No repair. With Samsung, you pop the back off, pop the new card in and boom your done. Whether it's a power board, video board or even LED board, they're just baby mini motherboards you swap out.

Samsung is a big brand but they are not a premium brand. Most of their stuff is crap take it from someone who buys a lot of commercial grade Samsung monitors for my company. Even their 24/7 panels lose their backlight fast.

I bought a super cheap Insignia 4K Smart TV with Amazon Fire OS and paid like $300 for a 65" which I put in my bedroom. I am more than impressed with the picture quality for such a cheap TV and the super easy to navigate OS. No, its not the same level as my LG OLED in my living room, but for $300, I am very pleased. If it craps out one day, no big deal. I'll just get another one. I've had it for 3 years now with heavy use. Not one problem. I can also go into developer mode and side load Apps.

I was wondering about this. A Samsung plasma that I bought in like 2010 is not coming on now. Picture and everything was fine, but it's stop responding to the power button.

I don't want a huge theater TV for this room, so I was curious about one of those budget brands or maybe a Fire TV to cut down on the wires and plugs.

I'd look into a higher end TCL. Their 6-series (may be called something else now) have really good PQ, I'd put it up against anything other than a quality OLED. I wouldn't go too cheap though, I have a 4-series and it is noticeably not as good. It also just looks cheap with the glossy plastic bezel/stand. Unfortunately, think TCL's higher end now use Google's UI which I think is inferior to Roku, but that's more of a personal preference I guess.
