I need a new backpack for my laptop. I've had my old one for 8+ years and it's definitely time to update. I am a big fan of having pockets and prefer to have two water bottle holders but that's not a deal breaker.
I have a 15" laptop I'd like to be fairly secure.

What do you use on a daily basis?
I use this bag as a daily bag but also travel bag some as well.
All suggestions are welcome.
Thanks

I got a Timbuk2 Authority backpack about 2 months ago and have been using it 3-4x a week, including through court house detectors. I think it will do a 15" laptop. It easily does my 12.9" iPad. It has 2 slots where a laptop can go, both are adequately padded.

I like mine. I wish it had a few more pockets in the front compartment, but I'm old(er) school on that front. People with fewer pens and knick-knacks may not need all that. I easily put an extra charger in there and while I don't have a power pack in there (yet), I'm going to get a lightweight one to put in there so if I need juice and an outlet isn't available, I'm good.

I use the top handle almost exclusively, and the one on this is sturdy. I haven't even used the back straps yet as I carry it like a briefcase.

I use a 5.11 Tactical Nitro backpack for my laptop and all the datacenter crap. The model isn't available on Amazon any longer, but there should be a newer replacement:

I decided to go with this one after my previous backpacks kept falling apart (I carry to much crap and weight :-)

I have had this one and a single strap 5.11 Rush Moab since 2018 and they are still 100%! They also support MOLLE, which I use D-Rings for attaching things like my water bottle via carabiner and other crap.

Super happy with the build quality of 5.11 backpacks!

Edit: I have a 16" Macbook Pro that fits in both backpacks.

I have used mine for at least 16 years for school, work, flying, road trips, etc. I'm probably going to shed a tear when it finally gives up the ghost (one corner near the right strap is starting to wear a hole.

Everki Atlas. Great warranty, great layout. Super comfortable. I did a significant amount of travel for work and the abuse this bag has withstood. I collect backpacks and it's my #1 favorite

I have a Timbuk 2 authority as well and love it. Have had it for a little over 2 years now and it's held up well, still looks great.

Only has one water bottle side pocket, though.

I've had a Swissgear 1923 for about 7 or 8 years that still looks brand new. It's just a rock solid backpack and it never shows any wear.

Curiosity got the best of me and i ordered the LTT Commuter Backpack when it was announced and they were running the 20% off deal. I also wanted something a little bit smaller than the Swissgear and this seemed to fit the bill. It doesn't ship until the end of the month so i can't comment on it yet..

I've used a swissgear for going on 13 years for my regular around the town or multiday trips.

Last year I grabbed the tomtoc Travel Backpack (I think it's the navigator, link below) as I like that it's a hybrid laptop backpack and rucksack that you can get into from the outside or from the inside. It's done really well for overnight business trips where I just need a change of clothes and don't want any luggage. It can hold 40L, but can compress way down if needed.

Like boy09, I also ordered the new LTT commuter backpack and waiting on wait. I like the look of it and what they're claiming. We'll see if it bumps out the swissgear, which I think I've tried to switch from 5 or 6 times now and always come back.

I bought this almost 3 years ago and it's still kicking. It was my daily carry when I was still teaching and now it's my default work travel bag. Plenty of storage, lots of organization, tons of color options, and its pretty dang cheap at $18-$35 (depends on the color)
