Strafing and railgunning **** with the merc is fun. Very different gameplay but fun.

Not yet. I was just about to say how much I love the minor and major boss fights so far. Through Act 1 it has been far better than most anything D4 did.

I was too... until i got to this BS.

There are three different trial options, with different mechanics, to get your ascendency. I believe another unlocks in a3. You can choose any combo or do only one to get all ascendency points

Sanctum was never a favorite, being ranged and some movement speed helped a lot. Plus choosing a path for fountains to restore honor.

I am just about to balbala so I should be on the trial soon. In beta I could get to the boss easily but I couldnt beat him. I figure I'll just come back in a couple of levels if I can't beat him pretty quickly this time around.

My sorc is still cruising pretty easily. I still am using a yellow level 3 weapon but it has +2 to lightning skills and it shreds everything. I've been trying to upgrade another weapon to include that upgrade but so far unsuccessful. Having a ton of fun on the sorc

We were in Dallas all weekend for the kid's cheerleading competition. Hoping to get some play time this week, as well.

Yeah, ranged is much easier. It's so freaking hard as melee. Especially with all the AoE these enemies do.

Finally beat the trial. Had to get to level 27 first to do enough damage fast enough to the last boss to kill him before I failed.

Jesus, that sucked.

The ascendancy trial was not much fun at all. Not looking forward to the higher level ones. But now I'm a full fledged infernalist and I am burninating the countryside.

Trying summoner witch atm, pretty fun so far but pets die pretty easily and my spirit is so low i cant get but a few skill gem summons out at once.

How do you quickly boost spirit?

Beat the trial boss after 3-4 tries tonight at level 22. Going elementalist with the storms. I was just about to give up on the boss and go back to leveling. He's a pain in the ass.

I'm laughing at all the nerd fights comparing POE 2 and D4. Why can't MFs just enjoy both?

D4 feels more casual, and you can bang out a season over a weekend or a single week if you want. You can make your character a literal walking god that erases the screen.

POE 2 is slower paced and requires some actual strategy. Boss fights are super fun, but can also be brutal for certain builds.

Yeah I enjoy both for different reasons. POE 2 is a little more fun to me even if I still have not figured all of the crafting out. The boss fights have been a lot of fun but I think they tuned them down from beta a bit. Balbala especially. Took me 20+ tries in the first beta on monk. Took 2 tries this time around. Even considering my sorc is stronger than my monk was, I'm still surprised at how much they tuned down the damage in that fight

I've had so many times where I thought things were going well and everything goes to hell so fast. Just last night I was thinking about how I was blasting through a zone easily. About 10 seconds later like 40 tiny beetles ran onto my screen and surrounded me and I died to the lowest level creature on the map. Cracked me up.

What merc build are you running? I found early success with Galv shots and Explosive nades for easy AOE clear. Not that great on bosses.

At the time of my trial, I was going high velocity rounds and the armor depleting one. I went to explosive shot with explosive and gas grenades with cluster passive after I went witchhunter. The way I'm specced I throw 4 explosive grenades out at a time. I usually drop 2-3 barrages, then blow the **** out of it. I'll drop gas ones with corrosion to eat armor up when I need to.

The only fight that gave me a fit so far with this setup is the stone titan because my grenades could roll off the platform harmlessly before I blow them up, and he would shank my ass when I was paying too much attention to my attack.

Not a good start. First launch, the game said I hadn't purchased PoE2 and couldn't play it.

Relaunch, got past that, selected and named my sorceress and the game and Windows 11 locked up and had to be hard booted.

About to try again

It's working after the reboot. Now it's the family that's pulling me away. I made it to the village and fought the first boss. So far I like the mechanics.

I'm level 22 and haven't done my ascendency yet. But I've had a lot of success with Galvanic Shards (+pierce + lightning infusion) for AOE clear; and High Velocity Rounds (+double barrel +scattershot) and flash grenade (+second wind) for bosses. When I get more higher level skill gems, I plan to work on Explosive Shot combo with Explosive Grenade and see how that compares.

Beat act 1 boss on first try with summoner witch at around lvl 16. Affliction spreading while pets tank is definitely the way yo go. Pets dps is pretty bad.

I tried the temple of chaos. I'm not sure if I want to do that any more.

I never really got into POE 1, but I assume they do seasons/leagues? Did they let you skip the campaign after already completing it? While I am enjoying my play time thus far, I have a hard time seeing me complete this campaign multiple times per season

POE did have Leagues with new mechanics. I think one of the biggest issues with getting into POE was, when a new league mechanic started, they would not remove the old league mechanic. That led to too many mechanics going on at the same time, making it very hard to jump in as a new player.

For POE, you did have to do the campaign each time you leveled. As of right now, it looks like POE2 is the same thing. There are also several permanent buffs you get from doing quests during the campaign.

The nice thing about the past league mechanics, you could use your atlas tree to not have the ones you don't like.

I like the concept of doing the campaign to level just so we aren't doing the same things that are done in the endgame. That's where D4 failed for me, you level doing the things you'll be doing in the end game(for the most part).

I'm hoping that if they make replaying the campaign part of the league, they have some form of randomization to keep it fresh. I know they have new gimmicks they add as they go, but it would be nice it's not just a rush through the exact same content over and over each reset.

I do hope they make the really big maps smaller, some took a while to find the bosses in

I made it to the temple of chaos and tried 5 or 6 times. I made it to the boss finally (it's only found 4, not 10 just FYI). It was some weird bird thing that debuffed me and made healing worthless. I didn't last long.

Think I'm going to respec to cold sorc and try again. From 33-40 my electricity build stopped being very effective. I'm way too squishy
