Feb 2018 bought this system on advice from electronics guru, computer builder son for
one story house/studio 1750sf V-shaped w/foil faced ext.insul.bd as the only "metal" barrier (also surrounds studio where main unit RBR40 resides).
Capable of 1-2.2Gig speeds, Optimum cable supplying 300Mpbs

Problem speeds and have tweaked ala Google EVERYthing possible:
.... Old ASUS Biz computer 300Mbps (when Optimum is not throttling back, in this student city, aka stealing services w/o fees paid back)
.... 2021 ZTE Z719DL Android 7.1.1 cell "turtle" ideal top speed 26Mbps AFTER tweaking
.... 2023 Rear BR Sony TV was also 26Mbps, now tweaked to 152Mbps
.... 2024 Samsung Ao3s Android 13 cell 323.5Mbps post tweaking

Solutions?
1. replace Orbi system with another 3 or more units mesh BUT Ao3s does fine WiFi (as does ASUS via cable) ... and with what? Amazon best reviews @ $300+?
2. replace ZTE as out of date (except for the hassle, wouldn't I love to ... a new iPhone is staring at me to activate it)
3. replace the SONY TV? sigh
4. as stated, already tweaked this and more e.g.
https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi-Wi-Fi-5-AC-and-Orbi-with/ORBI-Wifi-speeds-slow/m-p/1977679 including locations with meters e.g. WiFiMan, WiFiAnalyzer, etc. etc.

Cluless now ......

It's six years old. I'd go with option #1. I'm a Uniquiti guy which is probably more than what you want to take on so I'll hang up and let someone come along and recommend a good mesh system. I'm sure it will serve you well.

Replace it.

Had a five year old orbi system. Periodic drops, random slow downs, etc

Replaced with a TP-Link deco mesh system and it's been rock solid with faster speeds all through the house

I replaced my Orbi with a Deco a few months ago. Similar situation, was getting much slower. The Deco is giving me speeds I never saw with the old system.

Which specific TP Link Deco system?

I have Orbi and have had slower speeds as of late and wondering if it is just aging (a little over 4 years old).

House is about 4K square feet...two story....its a long / skinny house...

I get 800mb+ down on my Orbi from 2021; I do keep up with the firmware updates.

I have the W7200 model and just use two pieces for a ~2900, two story home. I have one unit downstairs on the east side of the house and another upstairs on the west side of the house with no issues at all and can get a solid connection out to the street and all my backyard. I have 30 devices active (laptop, phones, cameras) at any given point and another 30 (Xbox, Switch, etc) that turn on as needed. You'd probably need at least one more deco but I'd probably do two.

Also my system is a little older so you'd probably want to future proof and get a wifi 7 unit.

Yup. Had a Google mesh in my previous house for a couple years and it worked great. Moved in 2019 and I just couldn't' get it working in the new house (the nodes were barely getting a signal and there was no reason why they shouldn't).

Instead of pulling my hair out, I bought a new Deco system and it's worked pretty much flawlessly for 5 years now. On the VERY rare occasion I have to reboot a node, but 99.9% of the time it just works.

This is the one I have. It's a 5 year old model at this point so there are probably newer versions available. I'm running 3 in a 3K 1 story. I'm guessing you'll need 4.

WOW many thanks for the clear guidance that makes a purchase EZ, only minor versions of DECOs to consider cs cost!
If this was for biz, then would look into throwing mo' money at ubiquiti systems, so also thanks for something to refer to biz clients.

Update:
The tweaking of Orbi took two days and the results were
300+Mbps in router room
200+Mbps in Living Rm*
120+Mbps in far rear MBR*
varies quite a bit as Optimum throttles back speeds in this college town (no refunds for this nor outages)

I need to replace w/DECO as soon as the holiday wars are at peace.

We have these in the house. I've got four total but needed coverage out back for music in the yard / firepit.

They're cheap, relatively speaking, and you can grab one or two more off amazon if needed.

I'd get a three pack to start, then test your speeds in every room in the house and figure out if you need additional coverage anywhere.

I would go with Option 1. You will get more speed with a current Orbi or other brand. I generally upgrade mine after 4 years.

If you have ethernet cabling run in your house then you also want to make sure the system supports Backhaul. I have that at my house so when I setup my environment I run the Mesh networks all in backhaul mode so I don't lose speed and throughput.
