Several years ago I built a PC for gaming. It has 24 gigs of RAM. two 5850 video cards, an intel I7 processor and an SSD operating drive. I have tried to keep it upgraded. I've received the message that it will not run Windows 11. Is there anything I can do you bring it into compliance?

Need to know the exact processor model you have. Your compatibility issue is probably the lack of an enabled TPM 2.0 module for the CPU.

TPM is an embedded security device with the processor that helps prevent certain types of hacking attacks. It's required for Windows 11. Intel 8000 series and up should have it.

The 5850 GPUs are also very old. Windows 11 may not support them if they don't support DirectX 12. I don't think they do.

It looks like you might need a new cpu, motherboard, and gpu. If the RAM is DDR4 you can reuse it as long as a replacement motherboard is compatible.

SSD should be fine.

If you are building, definitely check out some guides on youtube. Zero need to go with more than one GPU now.

If you haven't been there before, check out PCpartpicker.com. You can build it all online and it will verify things like compatibility.

I want to say there are ways around the minimum requirements. I have an old laptop that I recall taking some extra steps to bypass the requirements.

I meant this thing "Asixxsix TPM 2.0 Module https://a.co/d/cgy1nUD"

The link doesn't really show what you do with it... I'd hope there's a jumper or something but why would a mobo have a slot for that, you know?

My motherboard has a slot and that's the TPM I purchased.

Didn't know this was a thing. I just checked and my old Asus Z270 mb has a 14-pin TMP 2.0 header. So i don't think the one you shared will work on my mb, but i did find some Asus-specific TPM modules. Interesting...
