Howdy, what's a good laptop for my freshman daughter in high school? She doesn't game, but will work on school work and I'm sure stream some stuff. Any Black Friday specials? Any help would be appreciated!

I picked a 2023 macbook pro with a broken screen for $200 from a friend who was in hurry to buy a new one. Looking to find a replacement screen for it for a college student. Seems like I should be able to find one for 300-500 so all in all $800 at worst for a pretty new macbook pro seemed like a good deal? I know in 3/2023 they paid over $1500 for this machine.

Anyone know of anyone who does repairs or a good place to take it? For whatever reason finding this screen seems to be tough right now.

I would see how much it would cost to get the repair straight from Apple.

Yeah, don't listen to this. Plenty of good laptops out there for $500 or less.

I came here earlier to start a thread asking about a laptop for my wife working from home, but found this thread instead. We ran over to Best Buy at lunch and got a slightly smaller Lenovo with the i5 processor for $450. It should handle Outlook, Excel, and Teams calls just fine.

Not too bad, IMO, considering the iFixIt price for the display is $580. I'd pay $100 extra to not mess with it.
