I'm out of town on business so have a decent amount of time for gaming and have started playing this one after seeing insane reviews.

Anyone else playing? I'm not impressed so far

In Chapter 8 of my first playthrough right now. I'm enjoying it, but not as much as I enjoyed playing FF7 Remake earlier this year. Remake was a breath of fresh air to me with how focused and streamlined it was compared to most JRPGs. Rebirth brings back more of the traditional JRPG elements like a more open world, skill trees, custom parties, etc. I can't really complain about that since it's expected of the genre, but the gameplay is slower and more repetitive.

There were parts I loved, and parts I hated. The biggest issue is that the game is just WAY too damn long. Took me like 170 hours to beat it on normal (granted I did every optional activity possible).

The excessive amount of mini games is annoying (Queensblood is awesome tho), and some are very frustrating (3D Brawler is horrible in particular). There are also some very poorly designed enemies, boss fights, and arena battles that will make you want to break your controller.

I'm glad I played it since I am a big FF7 fan, but I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I wanted to.

Steam has a twin pack sale of REMAKE and REBIRTH prelease for $70 I am eyeing hard. I used to be a die hard FF fan until around FF12 and then drifted away.

This seem like a good deal to yall?

I fell off FF after 12 as well but gave 16 a try and it was solid.

Considering how expensive those two are, that's not bad.

Currently downloading it on my pc and steam deck. Can't wait. I've been able to stay away from spoilers since the ps5 launch. Anyone else waited until the pc port?

PS5 launch player here - FF7 on PS1 was the game that hooked me into JRPGs and gaming in general. I was ~11 yr. old. Played through remake very quickly. Couldn't wait for rebirth.

Last night I just got to Chapter 11. I took a hiatus late last year with CFB 25 and ranked Apex. Getting back into it and enjoying it. I remember how much I despise cait sith.

The forced party bull**** is whats pissed me off with rebirth. Im in chapter 4 just before the elevator up and im already tired of not being able to use the 3 i want permanently. Go **** off red, i dont want you in my party.

Yep. I even went and saw the Rebirth concert when it came through Fort Worth without playing Rebirth yet since I don't have a PS5. Played through Chapter 1 last night, so cool to experience that famous Sephiroth/Nibelheim scene again. Hit me just like it did back when I was a kid in the OG FFVII.

Something I just have to vent about... I can't believe they are still forcing anti-aliasing in Rebirth after the mess it caused on Remake on PC. DLSS has improved over time so it was tolerable for me during my 3 hours of play last night but I am thrilled to see the rebirth hook is already out to be able to edit that nonsense and motion blur out. It's wild to me how pro motion blur and anti-aliasing developers are these days. Can't wait to tinker that stuff out tonight and dive back in, hopefully with even more improved visuals!

I hit Cosmo Canyon over the weekend - inject that song straight into my veins

Cosmo Canyon song has gotten stuck in my head at least once a week since 1997. One of the best! Can't wait to get there in Rebirth for that song and another fashion related reason I'll keep to myself.
