Ish. It's a paver stone on top of a piece of anti-fatigue foam that I cut down to fit.

The rubber on the bottom of the X1C grabs pretty well and I never had an issue with it walking, but the added mass does cut down on the noise and vibration. I wanted the table to be pretty heavy as well. I didn't come up with it - it's a pretty common tactic for cutting down on noise for faster 3D printers.
I have pretty much the exact same setup, but used a rubber paver and concrete paver. The rubber paver is a little harder, but still basically no vibrations anymore.

Thanks. I'm going to try this. My wife will be much happier if the louder printing of the P1S I got is muffled a tiny bit.
The spacer he has is almost as important. The chamber gets really hot while printing and can cause problems with PLA or other low temp filaments, so the fan on the back fires up and can be really loud. You can swap out the fan with a quieter one, but printing the spacer allows the top to vent so you can set the fan speed to 60% or so without chamber temps rising.

I printed a 'muffler' of sorts for my fan. Basically a box with a zig zag patter going down inside and a piece of felt shoved in it. It's held on by magnets and works decently well.

I haven't looked at a muffler, but it's a good idea.

Regarding chamber heat, I still haven't quite dialed in my PLA settings. On really big prints, like a router template, I get some peeling in the corners (exacerbated by the chamber fan). Adjusted the settings to run at different temps, fan settings, dried the filament, all of which improved the results, but didn't eliminate the issue. Gonna try a smooth finish plate instead of the textured one that came with it.

I had similar issues with my Prusa Mk3 when I first started using it, but it was easier to tune out.

My A1 came in today! Bad news - I've already been told I can't open it until my birthday in a few weeks...

I've been told by some people to apply a glue to the plate and/or to add brims and rafts to the prints to avoid the lifting at the corners. Also that the back left of the P1/X1 printers is a slightly colder spot and has some trouble with adhesion.

Elmers purple glue stick (or Amazon knockoffs) on smooth plate. Dont need it for textured plates.

Random question. Can I just swap in a 0.2 nozzle in place of 0.4 on models where I want more detail, even if the plan off makerworld is set up for 0.4 nozzle?

Yes, but set the nozzle to .2 in print setup before slicing.

Reddit is all up in arms over the change. I don't guess I see what the big deal is.

Bambu's program is basic at best will work if you just pick an already complete file and print it. If you actually want to remix and edit files and have more granular controls on prints, its terrible.

Agree. I finished up a table for my X1C and it's been a nice addition (collection bin not in pic)

Is it a big enough deal to return the a1 we bought and ams lite? We probably wouldn't heavily modify, but one of the reasons I wanted one was to customize things with my kids names either popping out or carved into stuff for name tags.

Probably not, you'll be editing files in a separate cad like program to do things like that.

I think the other big deal beyond Orca and other stuff losing access is that they set up the system to be able to charge for access to your own printer through a subscription. Someone also found the code that only allows their RFID tagged filament. So that's a big future issue.

They can't limit you to using their own filament. That would only apply to the AMS, and it's also against U.S law.

Some of the other concerns break EU laws.

It looks like they came out and clarified a bunch of things today and enabled a non-cloud option. Makes sense to me at least.

FWIW, they restocked some spools and filament. Easier for me than getting to micro center

You do know you can get filaments from Amazon, right?

Had mixed results even with highly rated filament there.

Yeah, but for the amount of printing i do (which is very little), the cost savings vs. the peace of mind isn't worth it for a true newbie like me.

I've used lots of Sunlu, eSun, and polymaker using the default profiles with no issues.

I buy sunlu pla+ in bulk from Amazon. Zero issues with it on default pla profile.

Only issue I've had was one roll of Overture PLA that for some reason the wrap goofed up. Still don't know how that happened. But it was refunded so no biggie. But everything else has worked fine.

Some interesting new tech that should hopefully make it's way into the slicer programs.
