Moved into a new (to me) house that has a bunch of different in-ceiling/wall speakers:
For the media room they left an Onkyo receiver that should be just fine. For the living room they left an old Denon receiver that doesn't have HDMI but should work if I can get all the speakers wired correctly. For the covered patio the speaker wires are dropped behind a tv but there's no amp/receiver.
I'm trying to figure out a relatively cheap/simple way to modernize all of these to be controlled easily via phone or something along those lines. I was looking at a Sonos amp for outside but those seem to only be able to power 4 speakers? All 6 of those speakers can be the same zone, I don't need multiple zones for outside. I'm also thinking it would be easiest to upgrade the living room receiver so it at least has HDMI and more modern features, so I would be open to sticking with the same ecosystem as the outdoor amp if that has any benefits.
I'm largely clueless here as I've never shopped for a receiver/amp and don't really know what I'm looking for. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
- full surround sound media room setup
- surround setup in living room plus two speakers wired to game room from same drop (these have a volume knob in game room to control separate from living room)
- 6 in-ceiling speakers for covered patio
