Been wanting to pick up version for PS3 or 4 for my kiddo as I think he'll dig it. Prices are bonkers. Are these games still supported? I don't want to find a PS3 version only to learn after the fact that some kind of server is offline and there's no access to the games anymore.

Bonus: If anyone has an old version they want to offload, I'm your guy!

Pick up an old copy of Rocksmith 2014 and a Fender squier mini off FB market place and he can play the game AND learn actual guitar. Honestly it's probably not much more expensive than Guitar Hero or Rock Band.

I can confirm that at least the Xbox version of Rock Band still functions. I went through the expense/hassle of tracking down drums and 2 guitars for my boys a year or 2 ago only for them to never play them.

Fantastic suggestion, and highly recommend. Issue you may run into is buying the dlc songs. They are being taken off the store as licensing deals expire. Love this for my bass guitar, though!

I actually have Rocksmith and an electric already. It's just too big for him. I suppose I could find a mini though.

This. I play clone hero daily just about. Get a halfway competent PC, a wireless controller off Amazon and you're set. The game and all of the songs you can download are free. Best decision I've made

Tell me more about what kind of PC I would need for this to work. I haven't had anything close to a gaming PC in a decade and just run the house stuff off a fairly old laptop. I'm not above putting a tower together if it comes to that.

According to Reddit, people are running it fine on some pretty puny hardware. Dual core and Pentium processors with like 2gb of ram and integrated Intel graphics, with no issues.

pretty sure i have drums and 2 guitars for ps4 in the attic or a closet somewhere. had no idea they were worth anything.

I play Frets On Fire with a USB guitar hero controller that I bought about 15 years ago. Works great.
