It seems my Microsoft Surface with the i7 isn't powerful enough to edit video using Adobe Premier. The software lags and freezes over and over. What computer would you recommend for this? Sorry I'm not super tech savvy so go easy on me. haha.

I've been tempted with the iMac but I'm not sure how much more powerful that would be. Thanks in advance!

The important thing is a good GPU and that premiere is able to use it. Even the best cpu will be a nightmare for video editing. A used 3080 would handle 4K video no problem.
Although if you do have resource constraints, you can always edit with proxy files, basically lower resolution files to do the editing and it isn't until the final render that the originals are used. Lots of tutorials on workflows for that.

I use Premiere and After Effects and can tell you the difference between my Mac Pro and Windows desktop are night and day. It was weird at first making the switch, but I am glad I did it and wish I would have earlier.

The Mac Mini M2 Pro should handle Premiere without too much of a problem. Here's a video on this specific issue:

If you're not married to Premiere (and I hope you're not, as I've hated the software since it caused a spontaneous reboot of my machine circa 2004), I would suggest Davinci Resolv. Free and works fine on even M1 Minis. M2s would be a plus.

I pulled the trigger on an Apple Mini with the Pro M2 chip. I feel like it'll handle my needs. Now I feel like I should upgrade my monitors!

If this is your first Mac you will love the difference. Takes a little time to get used to the little differences, but the speed on my Macbook vs any desktop I have ever had is ridiculous.

You should, go at least 4k and 24".

Dell makes some great pretty inexpensive options, LG for the upgrade pick (or Apple but that's admittedly overpriced).
