How long do you want to ignore this user?
Hey folks. I am currently trying to brush up on some skills to add onto my lead/Manager experience in game/software dev. Most of the gigs i've looked at recently are looking for someone ho can work with SQL and .NET. I'm down to give these a go but most online courses/modules I find online indicate that they are targeted towards intermediate learners. Do y'all have any recs for were to start before i jump into those?

Thanks!
hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. good times create weak men. and weak men create hard times.

less virtue signaling, more vice signaling.

Code with Mosh has both courses. I like his delivery and for his price of $29 a month you get access to a lot of different information.

On the SQL side, you can download free version of Microsoft SQL Express for any Windows pc.

Other option is a cheap Linux virtual private server, with Maria Db, and Phpmyadmin for about $6 to$7 per month, but admittedly much bigger learning curve when you throw Linux on top.

I don't deal with .NET, but Visual Studio Code is a free Development Environment by Microsoft and people have created 'plugins' for different languages like automated code highlighting or code completion for your chosen language.

For beginners to SQL, I'd recommend SQLite. Not only is it free, but it's an embedded database library rather than a client-server architecture. Meaning that you don't need to set up a Windows service or user account to create a database, you just give it a filename.

for sql, google northwind traders. id slap together some *nix LAMP server and go from there.

no idea on the .net. maybe my head is in the sand, but I thought it would have gone away by now in favor of more platform agnostic solutions
