Are the email addresses used for the local A&M clubs considered to be part of the Association organization and will be kept, or are they considered personal and everything with them will be lost?

As stated in the December 13 email, accounts belonging to officially chartered affiliates of The Association (A&M Clubs, Classes, Constituent Networks) are not impacted at this time.

However, they will eventually be moved to a non-@AggieNetwork.com domain. This process will likely begin in the Summer, and more will be communicated about how that will work as the time gets closer.

Just FYI for folks ... That transfer out of the Google Suite takes up to a week once you start it. Better get it started soon if you are going to transfer it all out.

Man this has pissed me off so much. Who knows how many people I will lose touch with and how many other opportunities I will miss out on because I can't fix and update everything (especially with 3 months notice). Thanks a lot AggieNetwork!! Never another dime. The whole department in charge of this debacle needs to be relieved of duty, starting from the top

Because of y'all, I just had to email Taco Bell support. There's no way to change your email in their app. This is what you've brought me to... Taco Bell Support.

There are times on our life when we really have to take a look in the mirror and think about who we have become.

If losing access to a taco bell account is one of the results of this change, then maybe it wasn't such a bad thing afterall.

Yes. Why do you need a Taco Bell account so bad? Just let that s*** go.

I can't believe the gnashing of teeth over this. But then again, I can't image people using this as their primary email account.

If you were in college when this was being offered, with your main email address being "sk8rdude69_2006@hotmail.com", a chance to get a professional looking "Pete.Smith@aggienetwork.com" to apply for jobs was pretty tempting. Pretty sure the first time I heard of the Aggie network email was from a career center presentation.

Fortunately I had a tech savvy older brother who told me to get first.last@gmail.com in it's early phases, so it was never a temptation, but if not for that I'd probably be in the same boat.

I was in college when this was offered and like almost everyone I know grabbed a normal gmail domain. I only used the aggienetwork gmail for the generous storage.

Like I mentioned earlier,

I've used aggienetwork.com email for everything professional and not ad-laden.

Gmail with + tags for things that spam the crap out of you and sell your address.

I'm still in the middle of buying my own url to run email through.

I got this Aggienetwork email address when it was only an email forwarding service that was "For Life". For reference, I had this service before I even got a Gmail account in December 2004 (Gmail didn't exist before April 2004). Yes I know, I'm old, but maybe that will help you understand people that didn't just use a gmail account like a normal person.

At the time, my aggienetwork.com email just forwarded to whatever email provider I had at the time (probably a cable modem internet provider address that I knew I would not have forever). When I got gmail in December 2004, I was able to forward the Aggienetwork to that one and it was great to have everything on that one portable email address no matter what email provider I actually used, I always had the one address.

This plan of attack worked out great until this year ... Again, I get it's a free service, but to act like it's stupid that anyone used this as their primary account is just not considering how this really worked and was intended from the beginning. I also get that things change and they may not be able to provide it forever as originally promised, but giving me 3 months notice is not acceptable. Even the Postal Service gives you 12 months of forwarding when you move. Having a full year allows you to catch things that come once a year and can change it over.

you probably already know this, but gmail ignores the ".'s" in your email address, so you can leave it in or out when giving out email addresses.

I always used to filter emails that came in with first.last@gmail.com to skip the inbox, and used that convention as my "burner" email.

You can do the same trick with +"text" in your email address. Ex: name.lastname+texags@gmail.com

This allows easy filtering and ability to see who sells your email address.

This is me exactly. My gmail address was my AIM screen name from high school. So whenever I need to feign professionalism somewhere like my kid's school or my tailor, I've always used my FullName@aggienetwork rather than LinkinParkDude420@gmail. At some point, it became my primary email address, even when buying crunchwraps from Taco Bell.

It doesn't help that I've got a SUPER common name, so it's tough finding any reasonable form of my name from other providers. It was a miracle getting it from Aggie Network in fact.

I'm pissed because even though I have a unique name (at least unique spelling) and am relatively certain that I'm the only living person with my name, someone has my firstlast@gmail.com somehow.

I didn't want numbers or whatever in my address, so I bought my own domain. So losing my free email address actually costs me quite a bit.

The Census provides lists of first and last names that appear at least 100 times in the particular census and ranked.

Esteban is shown for one recent census as the 590th most common male first name and is number 10,772 in last names.

Plantier is listed as number 61,138 for last names but everything from number 18,840 through 88,799 shows up as 0.000% which would indicate no more than 1 in 100,000 if no rounding up or 1 in 200,000 if rounding up.

Looking at those files, I was surprised to see that the last names of several people I know appear less than 100 times. For two certain last names of people I know, I think that everyone is either from my community or their parents are from my community.

If you wish, I can send you a copy of those files (about 3.25 megabytes total). Just send me a request to 1d490657-2845-4a1f-b2b4-e0ef55dafcfb@8shield.net (this is a temporary address).

Also, with your own domain, you can have a choice of several providers to handle that e-mail. My preference is ProtonMail, but you can also do it with companies like GreatMail in the US or Mailfence in Europe.

Esteban du Plantier was a character in a Bill Murray film 'The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou'.

I didn't know if it is your real name, but just assumed it was since I had nothing else to go on.

I never heard of the movie, though.

If you post your password and your new e-mail address on here, someone will probably be happy to change it for you.

Never let it be said that TexAgsers are not helpful.

I already transferred my Aggie Network email to a new gmail account at the end of January but have received a few more emails in the account since then. Can I do another transfer that will only incrementally transfer the new emails, or will it duplicate everything from the Aggie Network account, or transfer nothing at all?

Go to "Settings" and then to "Forwarding and POP/IMAP".

There should be an option "Forward a copy of incoming mail". Enter the new e-mail address.

Of course, once the Aggie Network account is shut down, there won't be any more forwarding.

Also, this will only handle new e-mails as they arrive, not the ones that have already arrived.

Just a reminder, we have about a week left to extract all of the data and swap over online accounts to a new email.

trying to transfer out my 100k emails (since this was a primary email address for 10+ years, thank you google and the aggienetwork) and I'm getting an error that google can't verify it's me and to login on a device i've signed in with before (I am doing that) and/or on a home or work network (I'm doing that). and to contact my administrator.

Any tips?

ok, well even though it didn't say this anywhere, i figured out that i had to have 2-Factor Authentication on for this to work. cool.

Now what do i do about the 10-15 accounts that won't let me change my email? some of these have warranty information and other things tied to them... i guess pray that i don't have any issues and if i do that I can just use the login and password without needing to verify email?

THIS SUCKS.

Yeah, I've come across that too. It's beyond idiotic that you can't change your email with some services. Basically told I have to create a new account and delete the old. I don't think I've contacted support for various places so many times in my life, let alone just this past month…

My password isn't working for that login on the Aggienetwork page. Verified it works through gmail when logging in direct, so I guess I need to try resetting the password for this to work. Such a frustrating mess…

Did the limited google drive part just die completely? I know things are wrapping up soon and want to transfer whatever I had on there but can't get in to it at all.
