Now Cord Cutters News has confirmed that DIRECTV via internet will offer a 4K option later on in 2023. Sadly, for now, DIRECTV has only confirmed this new 4K option will be available via the DIRECTV via internet option and DIRECTV STREAM

Seems like the way they will be pushing their new $15/month rental boxes. Hoping my current set top boxes will be grandfathered in and stay free.

This has all become so silly. Seems like this particular silliness is designed to stop people from hopping in and out for football season by offering a better picture if you sign a multi-year contract. I assume that DTV Satellite still requires a contract by the way.
The federal government was never meant to be this powerful.

I presume this means their satellite option will not have 4K?

Sat 1080p may still looker better if they are compressing that 4K over streaming.

From a different article I saw earlier, Sat already has a few 4K channels but thats it. I honestly dont know as I have the stream plan.

I have DirecTV satellite and have 4K. You are correct, there are only a couple of channels in 4K.

I got it for the Super Bowl and it looked fantastic. Other than a few NFL playoff games they showed in 4K (Fox broadcasts) I haven't watched anything on it.

It's so compressed that their "4K" looks about as good as a true 1080p signal is supposed to look.
