is there a technical term for this issue / what would I call this issue to try and trouble shoot? I haven't noticed it before but now that I see it it's hard to unsee it.

What model TV is it? Looks like the backlighting isn't working correctly/dying on the parts that are dark.

Ouch not a backlight issue then and I have the same TV in my living room.

Looking around online, it looks like it's probably an issue you'll need to reach out to LG for a repair (or the vendor you bought an additional warranty from if you did that.).

You could try running the pixel refresher though to see if that helps, as it can't really hurt at this point.

thank you.. i'll look into the pixel refresh - we've never done that.

i did buy an extended warranty on it so will give them a call too eventually

I'm pretty sure the LG OLED tv's automatically do pixel refresher from time to time.

Correct, they are supposed to if they stay plugged in, but doing a manual one can't hurt, though like I said (and you pointed out since it's already being done most likely) it probably won't help much.

Awesome on the extended warranty.

Another thing you can try is to make sure that it's firmware is up to date as well. I don't think it will help, but again, can't hurt and at least it's checking boxes LG or whoever will service the TV will probably have you try anyway.

I agree. I just didn't want them to think that there was some negligence on their part, haha.
