How long do you want to ignore this user?
I have an Iphone 14, just the plain one that I got a few months ago. Last night it started playing music from the music app on its own. The app was not active at the time, and has continued to start the app and play 2-3 seconds of random music from the apple music that I have on the phone.

Any idea what is going on and how to stop it? It woke us up 4 times in the night when it randomly came on. I went into the music app and turned the volume all the way off and they helped, but it still turns itself on when it feels like it, I just cant hear it now.

This is probably the most default response, but have you tried turning the phone off and back on / made sure it's updated?

If both of those are a yes, then maybe it is a Bluetooth connection, or airplay / Apple Watch that is telling it to play without you knowing. Any smart home devices connected?

Sometimes the easiest option is the right option, but yes, I have turned it off and back on several times, deleted and reinstalled the music app numerous times, and made sure the latest 16.1.2 is installed.

This is the only apple device I own, so it is not connected to anything else, and not bluetoothed to anything either.

I called apple support and they have turned in a trouble ticket to their engineers about it. Right now I just have the volume turned all the way off so if it turns itself on and plays music, it will not be heard.

I'd turn of bluetooth and leave it off. See if it happens again.

Best guess is some bluetooth device is activating it;

Do you happen to have a Spotify account that is shared with someone? I have found since my son shares mine, that when I go to stream my music it may default to his device if I do not make sure my device is selected... regardless if he is around physically or not. Learned the hard way it started going off with "my" music at his lunch one day.

Nope, no Spotify. I will be at the deer lease this weekend with absolutely nothing out there to interface with, so I will see if it clears up or continues.

Try the soft reset. Not just turning it off and on. Do the same process as off and on but continue to hold down the power button till it turns off and then you see the Apple logo

Have you turned off autoplay? My wife's phone did the same thing until she turned off autoplay.
