My iPhone 12 Max installed IOS 16 a few days ago. My phone also turned 2 and I finished making payments on it. Now there is huge battery drain. Anybody having issues with IOS16. Looking online, it's being blamed on indexing and should go away within a few days. It's not.

When have a YouTube audio play in background, the batter dropped from 90 to 60 in about 40 minutes. Don't remember what it was like before because I didn't need to worry about it.

Really hoping I don't have to go buy a new phone . This is the first iPhone I have t cracked, and still looks good.

iPhone 13 mini here. Having issues too. One proposed fix was to turn off battery charging optimization, turn phone off, and then restart. It may have helped some, but I still feel like battery isn't as good as before.

Same phone, no issues. Should be on iOS 16.1.2. Update released a few days ago. I recommend restarting the phone. Maybe reinstalling YouTube.

I have an 11 pro and this POS update completely destroyed the battery life. I know updates usually cause phones to take a hit with battery life, but this was more of a plummet than a hit. Flat out ridiculous. Never considered downgrading to a previous version before, but this time I actually might.

Oh, and **** auto updates. Definitely gonna turn that off now. Woke up to this bull**** a few days ago as a fun surprise, and dislike almost everything about this update even before finding out the battery was barely usable.

I've had a 13 for right at a year. I already felt like the battery life had decreased significantly since I got it. I've only had the update for a couple of days. So I haven't noticed it getting worse, but I just checked max battery and it's only 92%.

So today my phone appears to be back to normal. I had a few apps with location services always on that I changed to never or while using app. I also turned off my phone and turned it back on. I also turned off raise to wake.

My maximum battery capacity is 84% right now when I looked at the battery settings.

I love Apple updates. My wife's 4yr old iPad cannot be updated any further and for some reason she cannot access some web sites (like they just won't load). She also cannot DL some apps b/c they require a newer version of iOS.

Apple really should have to pay a fine for this BS, and it is in fact BS.

My 8-year old Android tablet, which hasn't been updated in several years, still runs everything on it just fine.

Gotta love that indexing the phone does after an update and takes several days to a couple weeks for battery life to improve

So moral of the story, update your phone when there's an update or else you'll have a crap update experience for waiting too long.

You're not missing a whole lot with iOS 16. Just the fancy Lock Screen. I do enjoy photo library sharing with my wife.

Battery drain after updates is all part of the plan, nothing to see here

Umm that's not true at all. Most people, myself included, update regularly. I didn't skip any upgrades to get to this piece of ***** But I've never had this problem before, whether because of the indexing or not. Might have more to do with the age of the hardware. Apparently 3 years is too old to continue updating. As I type this my phone (11 pro with battery health or 96%) is already at 16% and I haven't used it much today, definitely less than average.

Also, is there a stupider word than "update" with these forced updates when it makes the experience worse if the hardware of more than 2 years old?
