MLB TV
But if you live in TX, Louisiana, Oklahoma, or Arkansas you will be blacked out from Astros games so you'll need a VPN to change your location.

I'll check out Fubo, Looking at Hulu and YouTube as well.

No idea which one is better. We already have Prime and Netflix

Switched from YouTubeTV to Fubo for the season to watch the Astros. Might not switch back.

Here's a link for $30 off:

Thanks, looks like Fubo is the way to go if I get he Stros and College football.

I have 3 non smart tv's that I should be able to hookup by firestick.

I go with Fubo Tv. Only problem is if you like TNT, TBS. During March madness I pick up Sling to get those channels. I had DirectTv Stream since its inception, but I was tired of my "grandfathered" rate constantly increasing. Plus, I was having issues with the service.

I switch to YouTubeTV in March every year for March Madness but otherwise we're a Fubo house.

I've posted this before, but a lot of people still don't know about it so posting it again and I think it's an absolute gamechanger for Fubo.

If you watch Fubo on an AppleTV device (I think 3rd gen or later), you can split the screen into four separate feeds, and I think this is the only combination of live TV service and device that you can do this on. So, you could watch the Astros on AT&T Sportsnet, a football game on ESPN, another football game on Fox, and another game on ESPN2 or whatever on the same screen.

There are some apps you can do a multiview on with AppleTV, like ESPN and Fox, but everything has to be on the ESPN networks or the Fox networks. I think Fubo is the only way you can mix and match channels.

YES, that Apple TV split screen feature is probably my top favorite enhancements of streaming boxes/sticks. It's almost like someone talked to a sports fan and asked, what would be the best feature we can make.

I love that not only can you go with a game in each corner, but you just have to move the cursor around to highlight the stream for the current audio. In addition you can click to get the highlighted game to go full screen and then simply click again to go back to all the games.

I did not know this. I use Fire Tv sticks. Might look into Apple device for my main tv.

I honestly didn't know about it either until my dog stepped on the appletv remote one time two football seasons ago.

Apple TV is easily the best streaming box out there. So much faster and smoother than everything else.

Really happy with Fubo so far. I chose the $79 option to get the 4k. With tax it will be right at $100.

1 smart tv, 1 new firestick, 4 non smart tv's. I'll
Get a new Apple TV before I buy 3 more fire sticks and see which I like better.

You'll be happy with the Apple TV. Much better than the Roku and Firesticks that I've had.

What do y'all use for your internet? When I look at the cost of stand alone Internet plus one of these steaming services like fubo, it's always more the cable/internet bundle I currently have with Xfinity. What am I missing?

Pretty sure this is incorrect as this is an apple TV feature, not a Fubo feature. You can stream multiple apps at the same time.

For example, when the Astros were on Apple TV+, I streamed that game. As I was streaming that game I opened the multiview feature, went to the app home page, selected ESPN, then opened and streamed an Aggie Baseball game on the PIP screen.

But, either way, yes, it's a great feature.

I am paying $50/month for T-Mobile internet. As a T-Mobile customer, I get a year of YouTube TV for half price. So that's $35/month.

You're not missing anything. The cost of streaming TV service has steadily risen to the point it's now comparable to cable packages. The advantage is you can better target what you want. I just want college football and Astros, which Directv Stream does for a cheaper price than any other service that I've found.

Figure out what you want to watch, and target that content. With companies building their own streaming services to host their own content, the television landscape is absolutely horrible right now, and it's only going to get worse unless there's an antitrust action. It's very similar to how movies used to be, where a single company owned the studios, production, and the movie theaters. This was broken up by antitrust rulings, but content today is very similarly held tight.

Isn't one of the advantages of streaming that it's no contract? That is, you can stream just during football season, if that's your thing, rather than having to pay for the entire year.

Never had a contract with cable, I think satellite service is the only TV content service that has ever had a contract.

With cable they would have a cheaper rate for the first 6 months, that was my method for a while. Cancel as soon as football was over, by the time I needed it again I was eligible for the discounted rate again. No contract ever though

The advantage with streaming is more around the ease to cancel and add service. You can just do things on the portal to add something, and more importantly remove it easily. Cable is usually geared to let you add as much as you want in a simple manner, but removing require a few hoops to jump through.

With that said, overall, it's not really cheaper to cut the cord these days for most people. I know on spectrum (which I'm stuck with right now), it's cheaper to keep cable and use the spectrum app on my apple TVs (which is actually not that bad). I might sign up for Fubo for a month if there's something I'm missing on my Spectrum package that I allows me to watch a game. But the key is to always cancel after you're done watching, just like using any other streaming service.

I think I would make the switch to Fubo or YoutTube TV permanently if AT&T would get off their ass and install fiber to my home like they should have already done. Since they really don't have anything comparable to the Spectrum app.

I will throw one more thing, that I'm doing even with cable, in on the cut the cord discussion. I got a SiliconeDust HDHomeRun and I'm pairing it with an antenna in my attic to get local channels over the air. Comboing this with the Channels app on my apple TV 4k so that if I ever lose internet, I'll still have all of my locals available on the exact same devices.

I think you're talking about Apple's picture-in-picture, but I think that's limited to just two different apps at once right?
Jethro95

This is what he's talking about.
bobinator
How long do you want to ignore this user?
That's the Fubo "multiview" yes? That's what I was talking about.

He's saying you can quad box four different APPS on an AppleTV?
htxag09
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I don't know about four, I've only done two.

You stated that with fubo you could watch different channels. With other apps, like espn or fox, you could only watch different channels within that network. I simply stated that wasn't true.

Correct.

Yeah, I guess I should have clarified that you can also do picture-in-picture with two different apps. If you can do more than two then that's news to me but my AppleTV is a couple generations old at this point.

But as far as a three or four-game split-screen across different network families, I think Fubo on an AppleTV is the only way to do it.

I just bring it up because for me that alone is a reason to choose Fubo over YouTubeTV, especially if you already happen to have an AppleTV device. (Another annoying naming thing is that there is both an AppleTV service and an AppleTV device, makes this whole thing kind of complicated to explain to people who aren't already deep in the pool on streaming.)

Apparently multiview is coming soon to YouTubeTV, will be interesting to see as this update rolls out.

I'm glad they're adding it, but as with everything Google these days (and I'm a hard core android since the beginning), I'll be worried about implementation. For something like this I would prefer the native design, but Google will do it their way, probably with no regard of the design outside of the device their developer worked on it with.

That's one of the big things I like with Fubo in the cord cutting battle, they're focused on this service as their #1 priority, and do work to design the app for the device it's on to give the best user experience. Everything Google does is primarily focused on driving to ad revenue, with everything else second.

Keep checking with your cell provider for what they offer for free. With T-Mobile I get free MLB, Apple TV+, Paramount+ and they pay most of my Netflix. A lot of content there for free. Luckily I'm out of market for the Astros so I got to watch them for free all summer. Doing a free trial of youtube tv for the playoffs on TBS. Have an antenna so I get all the locals.

I haven't heard anything, I'm also interested if its just going to be on AppleTV devices. That would be a little odd seeing as how YTTV is a Google product but as far as I know AppleTV is the only one you can multiview with right now on any app or any service.

So I just set up multi view on my Apple TV with Fubo and it's awesome. Good thing Black Friday is around the corner. Might have to get a bigger tv.
