Best projector or alternative device?

I'm going to be helping my niece out in homeschooling some of her children. My thoughts are to use a projector to assist at times, perhaps to show clips from Star Trek, for example, when we're discussing the size of the universe, galaxies, etc. (Her kids that I'll be working with are 9-13 years and are just learning basic concepts). My thoughts are to buy an inexpensive projector and put the image up on a whiteboard in their classroom.

I don't want to spend a ton on this - just something inexpensive that works and is simple. Any recommendations? Or is there a better or simpler way of accomplishing this?

Another idea might be to simply buy a cheap 32" monitor. I see that there are some from LG, Viewsonic and HP for sale for $199 or less on Amazon right now.

Thoughts?

A problem you may encounter projecting onto a typical whiteboard is that they really magnify the reflection/glare of the lamp shining through the lens of the projector. You need a specialized whiteboard that also serves as a screeen. Or a dedicated screen.

Or a television.

I've had a projector in my classroom on a whiteboard for the past 8 years with no issue. It's a short throw style so it may differ than a standard one.

I got a LG CineBeam for the office for a portable, short throw projector solution on a bit of a budget so I could travel with it. It's been a pretty good solution.
