If you're going to do multiple sets of speakers per amo, I'd go with the speaker selector/impedance limiter route. It's more clean for your Amp to help regulate the power to a $50 piece of equipment vs frying your $700 Amp.

Your other post is basically exactly what I suggested except for adding the volume controls on walls, which your installer pointed out may be tough.

If you put the amps and those selectors in an accessible spot, you can certainly just control the volume from there (or turn off zones).

Ours are way back in the master closet (by design), so the wall volume controls are key for our setup. If we had them in a cabinet in the living room, it'd be different.

Here is another option involving Sonos

Much like the Sonos Amps mentioned by Youbet, there is also the Sonos Connect https://www.amazon.com/Sonos-Connect-Component-Streaming-certified/dp/B001CROHX6 that are no longer produced but are great and you can get them for about $100 each on Ebay. The Connect does the same as the amp in regard to connectivity but it does not have the power.

You can get an amp like this https://www.parts-express.com/Dayton-Audio-MA1260-Multi-Zone-12-Channel-Amplifier-60WPC-300-8150, then hook up one connect per room or you can "pair" rooms together on the amp and have one connect work for two rooms. And each connect can play something different if you want (i.e. 4 connects could have 4 different songs going on)

Been working flawless for the last 4 years.

Best Buy has now presented an option using Belkin Soundform Connect Audio with a main amplifier. Said very simple. I'd never heard of it! They used the 12 channel Sonace amp from the previous proposal. Comes out to around $2,000.

Now I'm even more confused!

"Main amplifier"? how many zones are they going for? and this is using AirPlay2?

Honestly, if you want something simple and easy to USE and understand... go the speaker selector and Sonos AMP route.

Yeah, I nixed that idea as I am an Android user. Problem with the Sonos Amps, everywhere is backordered. Just glad I am in no rush!

There's a poster in here that does wholesale orders for texags users (and gives discounts on Sonos). He can have them shipped straight to your door.

I thought I'd close the loop in this post. Got Sonance speakers installed this week and am extremely happy!

Used 3 Sonos amps for 5 rooms / 3 zones. Outside is on its own amp. I purchased the TotalTech service from Best Buy and got install free. What started out as an $8K bid from them, ended up costing around $2,500. The Geek Squad guys who installed were fantastic!

I run everything off the Sonos app and am also able to play music from my old iTunes account that are on my phone.

So, thanks to everyone for the input!

This is great stuff. Thanks for updating us.

I've got an 8 year old mess of Control4, Atlona, Sonos and Luxul equipment and had been wondering what to do. I might give Geek Squad a shot at reorganizing (or at least quoting).
