iPhone 13 event is Tuesday the 14th

Not a very exciting event it'll be interesting to see if Apple announces anything new that's not rumored. The 13 looks like a minor update to the 12 with a 120 Hz Display and possibly LTPO like the watch. A weird thing that came out was that iPhone 12 MagSafe is being deemed as legacy in a FCC filing meaning there could be some significant changes to MagSafe. Hopefully that doesn't hurt consumers already invested in MagSafe. A crazy story that went out last week was future iPhones could take advantage of low orbiting satellites for emergencies like an EPIRB.

The watch will go though it's first major design change where the shape will be more square than rounded allowing the display to be bigger with less bezel.

The other rumor is that they're going to jack up prices due to the chip shortage.

I'm in the market for my first apple watch, so I'm interested to see the new design and pricing.

USB-C yet?

I passed on the upgrade last year since they didn't up the refresh rate from 60Hz. Now I am sitting here with a OnePlus 7 Pro that has no working cameras, 1080P render resolution, and 60Hz screen that I have to keep charging 80% of the day to keep it from dying. It would be just my luck for a huge shortage and price hike. Guess I'd have to wait for the Pixel 6 or get this thing fixed.

More excited for iOS 15. The multi-tasking changes for iPad will be nice as I don't like how it works today. Also excited to see map updates and the ability to watch/share content while on FaceTime. Will be good to see grandparents' reaction to kid videos in real time.

Unfortunately, SharePlay got delayed and I think the "VPN that's not a VPN" too but the other features are something to look forward to. I've been running the beta for several weeks. Apple backtracked on the changes to Safari which could've been bad for them when iOS 15 releases because it was awful putting the search bar at the bottom. iPad multitasking is easier to use now and Widgets are a great fit for iPad but more developers need to get onboard with this. I naturally use the text detection on the camera now. The grouped photos on iMessage is awesome too. Focus is pretty cool but it needs more customization like for those that don't work a normal Monday thru Friday schedule.

As a developer, I hope they polish iOS 15 before release because running a SwiftUI build meant for iOS 14 on Xcode 12 vs 13 yields different results as the UI gets messed up with Xcode 13.

This is good insight. Disappointing in some regards (like SharePlay) but good perspective - thank you.

I think the multi-tasking for iPad is what I'm most stoked about.

I mean, it's already a slightly rounded square? Not sure there's really any significant surface area to be added.

I'm due for a new phone so I'm interested to see what they release, not expecting anything significantly new from the phone though.

I wish they would quit worrying so much about OS polish ups and start figuring out how to make battery life not suck on iPads.

I'm also hoping the new MacOS actually works, unlike Big **** (err, sir).

Just wondering why you think that is so bad. I'm actually looking forward to being able to easily select the search bar when only using one hand. Right now, I have to drop the screen down first or really stretch my thumb in an awkward way. Everything else we do (typing, navigation buttons, share button, etc. is already at the bottom of the screen, so it makes sense that the other piece we need to select would be too. From what I've read, there were some other features that were not great, but simply putting the search bar at the bottom could be nice.

Definitely feel incremental. I hope Apple steps up their game soon. No notch, usb-c, finger print reader on entire screen for starters…

Gonna be a gigantic meh of a conference.

They'll need to get glucose monitoring for me to upgrade my Apple Watch among any of the thus far rumored features. If they do that it will be a huge bump to the watch's usefulness.

Will wait another year for my Apple Watch - nothing compelling there, though I like the new design.

I'm not sure I understand why they want to maintain the Series3, SE and 7. Just make it the SE and 7.

The series3 name makes it feel really old and they could make subtle refreshes with SE and keep the name for entry level.

I really want to upgrade from my current Mini to the new one. That's my favorite iPad size by far, and now they've added stereo and Pencil 2? Very tempting.

I've had a Series 3 for years. It's still a reasonably capable watch for money, although installing WatchOS upgrades is a PITA.

Why is Apple still hanging on to using Lightning with iPhones? They have made the switch for their computers and iPads. Is there any advantage to using Lightning?

Right, but can't they just embed most of the Series N-2 tech in the SE and call it a day.

I wonder how many people are going to buy a "series3" when a series7 is the current model and SE is a discount model already.

I love the Mini form factor for reading but for notes and sketching it's just too small.

I use my 11" Pro as a secondary laptop for personal stuff during the day while I'm working.

So apparently the big carrier promo is still going on with the iPhone 13. I thought it would end, but I guess not. I traded in my fiance's iPhone XR with AT&T last month for the 12 Pro and got the maximum $700 so the bill is $10/mo for 36 months. For the Pros it's $1000 so trading in my iPhone 12 Pro Max would put my 36 month payoff at $5/month.

Really wan't that high refresh rate and macro camera.
