Hey everyone. Looking for some assistance for accomodating a mac.

My wife works from home full time and I work from home 2x/week. Until she recently changed jobs, we both had HP/Dell laptops which both had the ability to connect dual monitors. We had a dual monitor setup w/docking station in the home office and another identical setup in our bedroom. If one of us had an important video meeting, that person used the home office.

With her job change, she was issued a new Apple laptop with an M1 chip. Apparently it cannot support dual monitors (this is beyond dumb, but whatever). I'm thinking the solution is to get a ultrawide monitor for the home office that she would use most of the time, which would essentially allow her to have dual monitors by using the split screen function on the ultrawide.

Are there any screen resolution limitations I should be aware of. I have my eye on a ~34/35" ultrawide monitor that would have 3440x1440 or 2560x1080 resolution. I think I read online that the M1 cannot support 5120x1440.

I don't know much about computers/technologies, so just reading about these limitations online. I want to make sure I don't end up with an ultrawide monitor that isn't compatible or has resolution issues with our computers. Thanks in advance.

That's ridiculous that it doesn't support multiple monitors. I cant help on any front other than to shake my head in sync with you.

They should support quadruple monitors and/or VR for their price point. Apple's limitations on things like this has always annoyed me.

Which Mac are you on? It sounds like there is a fix in the works, if it has not been done already.

No mac help but 1080 vertical is never enough.
Also dell has some large monitors that have multiple inputs that you can set as a single, two or 4 virtual screens. With this probably could even run both laptops concurrently
