How long do you want to ignore this user?
We recently had ATT fiber installed in our neighborhood and they sent me a flyer offering their packages. Anyone have their total package of land line phone, internet and ATT TV package. I currently have Grande for phone and internet and then some the streaming- YouTube TV, Philo, Netflix & Apple TV (free for a year with the purchase of new iPad).

Thoughts & review? At least I could get the Astros on ATT TV. Too bad Springer is gone. Thanks

We have the ATT Gig Speed Fiber with the newest modem BGW 320 with WiFi 6 and 5 GbE. Works great. We stream everything and have zero issues.

Note: Unless you get the Gig Speed, you aren't getting actual fiber. At my previous residence, they said we had fiber but it was just to the street and then copper to the house which isn't nearly the same.

I just got AT&T fiber and have it all the way into my router. He removed the copper coax port that was connected and ran the fiber through that opening to the exterior of my house and then up to a pole. It is very fast. I decided to go with YouTube TV instead of AT&T TV because I am already pretty deep into the Google ecosystem.

holy S***! That is awesome.

My only option is ATT DSL and we are sitting at a whopping 12mbps max. It is brutal...

Correct. No caps and when I signed up there was a promo for it to only be $60/month for a year and a $150 visa gift card, plus free hbo max (which I was already paying for). Net result is I'm saving $65+/month compared to being with Spectrum with slower speeds. I did have some extra channels on Spectrum but nothing I really miss.

I have GarlandAg's speeds so I'm assuming I'm getting fiber to the router.

Did they give you the BGW gateway/router or the Pace?

Lucky. The Pace is crap. Only way I can get the BGW is to roll a truck to the house which I guess I could do but there is no guarantee I would get it.

That sucks. I'm actually using an Orbi behind mine but my tech seemed pretty chill, I feel like if I had asked for something he would have tried to help me out. Might be worth a shot.

If you have fiber you can completely bypass the ATT gateway.

Thanks for posting this. I may give this a try although I'm Gun shy to do so. I have horrific luck with networking and a/v stuff. It's basically my kryptonite.

Is not having ipv6 a big deal?

Have fiber to house, gig plan, Terrible Pace modem/router but passed through to Orbi. Getting same speeds. No complaints.

Also an option but actually wasn't until last year. There was a defect with the Pace that would knock you down to 10 mbps if you passed through to your own router for over a year before they fixed it.

One reason why I want Pace out of equation.

We've had ATT for over 7 years. Just saw this post and checked to see if I can upgrade to fiber.

It was available, so I chose the 300 mbps $45/month plan (that goes up to $65 after one year). Switching cost me my $10/month loyalty discount, so now I'm paying $5 more compared to the 100 mbps plan I was on.

No service call required.

Also, the rep had no absolutely clue about the nationwide ATT hotspot that's included with the cost of this plan. How do I take advantage of this?

AT&T Fiber is true fiber to your home, I have it. Agree about no need to get their phone and TV service. They give you HBO Max for free btw (at least on the gigabit plan, not sure on the others).

Going to watchlist this because I'm back at work - I've had ATT fiber for 2+ years, but I don't think I've seen those speeds yall are posting. Need to do the bypass.

Also - I recently called ATT for my bill. It was close to ~$95 after tax. Now it's $45/ month for 6 months. I'll just call back when that promotion runs up!

I literally need to do this as our fiber discount is expiring, anything in particular you had to do or just asked?

I called and was put through to a "loyalty specialist"

I typically keep it short - either I have a sweet promotion that I'm eyeing from Comcast or the value just isn't worth it to me anymore. As long as you get to some customer retention, ask them to give you a better rate to keep you. They gave me a new customer price of $40/month (I just checked) for 6 months.

So, how do I get this, if no service tech is coming out to my house. Same modem, same connection, just $5 more a month added to my bill.

I have a nagging feeling I'm getting fleeced, even though I did decide to switch.
GarlandAg2012

Only gig service gets true fiber to the house. 300 mbps is copper at least to the street.

So I had to sign up for the 1000 mbps plan?

Ugh...the website says both are fiber. I'll keep it until my discount runs out. I guess I can always drop back to the 100 mbps plan that I was on. I was just hoping fiber would be more consistent. Our service is not reliable.

When I signed up for ATT Fiber about a year ago, there weren't speed options like you listed in your previous post. It was all "up to 1gigabit" and that's it. Also, no service call makes me think it's not the same thing. Because mine was a new line into the house that replaced the ATT Uverse line.

EDIT: Oh yeah seems like you got the same answer above.
TXTransplant
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I just double checked to make sure I didn't see something that wasn't there.

But, yeah, my two options are ATT Fiber 300 or ATT Fiber 1000.

It also looks like these are now the only two options. I don't see a way to downgrade back to the ATT 100 (not fiber) plan that I had before I changed.

Am I even going to see a difference in the 300 "fiber" and the 100 plan that I previously had? I feel like this was a really sneaky way to get me to upgrade (and charge me more on my bill).
rbcs_2
How long do you want to ignore this user?
That's interesting they have speed options now. I do wonder if choosing the Fiber 1000 option has a tech come out. That's the part I'm suspicious about.

The main reason why I upgraded was because Uverse capped the upload side at 1Mb (later changing to 3Mb). So I would think that the 300 option would at least give you better upload speeds but not sure if that's a big deal. For me it was since I started working from home 100% of the time.
TXTransplant
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I did a quick Google search, and it looks like even Fiber 100 is available in some places. That wasn't one of my options (I already had a 100 plan, anyway) either before I switched or now. When I log into my account the only two options are Fiber 300 and Fiber 1000.

I'm wondering if what I had was "Fiber" 100, but I don't understand why I can't switch back to it.

Thanks, I tried their chat the other day and was given a phone number to I think their loyalty department so I'll give that a shot. Appreciate it.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yeah looks like they do offer different speeds now. I just plugged in a neighborhood address and there are 3 options, Fiber 100, 300, 1000. I suppose it's good that there are now more options.

When I switched they ran a fiber line into my house that replaced a Cat5 cable. I repurposed the Cat5 to make a hardwire run for my home office.

It could be they have retired the plan you were on and you were grandfathered. This happened with my FIL's internet at his house. I went to upgrade his speed and they kind of laughed when they pulled his account up. They haven't offered his plan in a long time and just had kept him on it.

Once we upgraded there was no going back. Didn't want to anyway.
TXTransplant
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yeah the problem with that is, I'm not sure I'm actually getting anything for the extra $ I'm paying. Except for the word "Fiber" on my bill.

Up until now, our internet pricing had been pretty stable. It was the Uverse cable service that kept seeing huge price increases.

I've got $45/month for now, but that only lasts 12 months. I'll be back to haggling with them again. And I lost my "loyalty" discount.
