Glad it's working for you.

Archives are pretty quick at about 5 per second. I wanted to scrape my old posts just incase someone were to try to alter an old screen grab, not that my posts are all that interesting).

The edits are slower because the script has to wait for the JSON confirmation which takes about a second. At half a second it was missing about 90% of the responses.

There is no need to limit it to batches of 1000. Earlier versions become unstable and sluggish on my old computer after around 100 edits so I have it set to close and relaunch Internet Explorer every 40 edits now.

23000 posts may take 8-10 hours. I thought about submitting each edit in a new tab and then going back through each tab to collect the responses but even then I only expected a 5x improvement which didn't justify the trouble when it's so easy to just run it over night.

Sorry about that. I've had that installed so long I assumed unzipping files were just part of windows.

Correct. It launches a hidden Internet Explorer window.

If you've never logged into TexAgs from IE it won't have your profile saved in any cookies and will get hung up looking for your profile page. Once you've logged in once, you don't need to keep IE open. It will launch a new hidden IE window.

Should I get rid of the go for edit text and just require the field to be null? Then if you want to keep a post, put anything else into that column?

I removed the files from the archive for easier access and made some edits to the READ ME file (Thanks C@LAg). I also added a Registry edit file to Undo the IE_JSON registry edit that is required for these macros to work.

There are some new entry field definitions on the top of the spreadsheet for the olds and I added filter drop downs for the post history to make it easier to filter posts by forum, etc, in case you only wish to edit your posts from the Zoo, GB, or F16.

New download link is only valid for 5 days so if one of you have a more permanent place to host them, feel free to do so.

ETA: if anyone is still having trouble running the Excel Macros, try changing the Internet Explorer compatibility mode.

ETA: Removing links while assessing TexAgs policies.

question, How does it handle username changes over your posting history?

it uses your UserID number and not your user name.

My friend is doing something wrong, but then again both of us are lol olds.

Everything works fine until "Mass Edit". The "Edit Text" block is left blank which, presumably, should simply delete all text. "Mass Edit" is then hit but the posts remain online. What are we missing or doing wrong?
The status column (L) should state Post Edited or failed after attempting to make the edit. What does it say?

If you haven't updated your registry to 'Open in Browser' when it receives the JSON response file from TexAgs, the file script won't work.

I would go ahead and put some text in the go for edit box and copy that through column J.

It looks like it got everything it could. It can't edit posts if the thread got locked and it cannot edit posts if you don't have enough stars, etc.

Run it again. It will only try to edit the ones that got missed previously.

Got it to work, but in doing a search by user name on TexAgs to doublecheck its effectiveness, it apparently didn't actually capture all posts, and thus missed a few in the Mass Edit.

Run again? If so, do it with a new spreadsheet?
Back to this post, it looks like it got just about everything.
I went to page 25 of your post history and it looks like it edited all your posts there:

If it's missing things, click the mass edit button again. There is no need to start with a clean spreadsheet. When you re-run the mass edit it will skip to all the posts it missed and will make 3 passes to try to get them all.

Do you have to use IE only? Chrome on Mac?

The script uses an Internet Explorer library and launches a hidden Internet Explorer window. Without Internet Explorer the script won't work.
