How long do you want to ignore this user?
Been doing this for over a decade however need some advice on headsets. With the kids being around more often a lot more noise is being generated around the house. Over the ear headphones is a no brainer but as far as a mic is concerned i'm just using the one on my webcam for my desktop. When looking at gaming headsets I see noise cancelling mics but I'm curious as to how much these help with distant ambiant noise (screaming kids). How do yall deal with the sound during work?

I would imagine they work pretty well.

I have a simple plantronics voyager BT headset and no one can hear screaming kids on my calls.

I know it's getting more acceptable, but big gaming headsets still look goofy in a professional setting.

This is what I use and it works very well. I've been working from home in the same office as my wife and she is loud as hell on her conference calls, which she is on all day. I've asked my co-workers if they could hear her and they couldn't.

Good responses, but if you want over ear gaming headsets, my work issued me a version of these:

Logitech 981-000541 G230 Stereo Gaming Headset with Mic https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BFOEY4I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Ae1IEb5ZVDPS8

It has an in ear monitor (I can hear myself speak.) which is weird to get used to, but I don't notice it anymore. Haven't heard for myself, but in video conferences people say it sounds like I'm right next to them.

No issues with screaming kids if they are in the other room. You can turn your mic off using the switch if they come in though

My issue with the Plantronics I've had in the past was that they sounded like a phone call no matter what. Lower quality mic. Maybe they have better versions than the one I used.

I bought a pair of Hyper X headsets for me and the kid... Held up very well after 2 years of almost daily use.

I am sure I probably have a misshapen head or something, but the 320s KILLED my ears and jaw. To the point I got massive headaches and couldn't sleep.

Just an anecdotal for yall.

Great info!! Thankfully haven't had that issue. Mine is technically the G430, so not sure what the difference is.
